It’s never quite the end for peripatetic Brian Oxman.
The man who calls himself the Jackson family lawyer has finally gotten his disciplinary action from the California State Bar.
According to the Daily Law Journal, Oxman’s probation began Jan. 21. He signed a stipulated settlement with the Bar. He received two years stayed suspension and — get this — must attend ethics school. I know a lot of people who would like to attend that graduation ceremony!
Oxman has been suspended before, in the 1990s. This time his punishment relates to a 2002 divorce case. Oxman represented the wife. He claimed — without ever backing it up — that the husband and his lawyer threatened a marriage counselor.
Of course, maybe he just dreamt it since Oxman has a habit of dozing in court.
The Jacksons had better think of another attorney if they’re going to file a civil claim against Dr. Conrad Murray, now charged in the manslaughter of Michael Jackson.
This week Oxman tried to pry loose Michael’s medical records from UCLA by saying he needed them to prove an unrelated issue concerning the publication of the singer’s picture after he died. Michael’s estate attorney, Howard Weitzman, quickly pointed out that Oxman was misreading the law.

MR. OXMAN IS A BLIGHT ON THE PROFESSION OF LAW.

The issue is not really unrelated. I suppose the purpose is to find out whether Michael Jackson was in reality dead before he reached the hospital, where he were pronounced dead.
I’m no friend of Joe Jackson, and I suppose the goal is to get money, but the real time of death can’t remain a state secret. If not before, it should surface at the trial against Murray.

May be he can turn into a public relation expert? He got so much TV interview experience to offer. Hmmm… may be acting in a TV reality show is better. With his imaginative mind, there should not be any problem finding something to do after his legal profession.

Oxman is an idiot and is always speaking out of turn but Joe loves this guy. I don’t think I’ll view him as the “family attorney” I’ll listen to Bab’s cousin and the court appointed guardian ad litem for the children for things that are important.

I find it sad that the Jacksons have a hard time finding people of good quality to work with them, for them,to advise them. Some of the choices made with and by Oxman have been embarrassing to the family.A goreat attorney would have been able to steer Joe Jackson from some of his really bad decisions–television appearances and law suits.

“great” and not “goreat”… excuse the typo!

There’s no way to get an accurate time of death. The closest you’ll get is the testimony of the paramedics.

@ axon: The time of death is not a secret. he was pronounced dead at 14:26 pm. It’s in the autopsy report too.
And how does it matter if he was dead or alive? does that photo seem more graphic if we know that he was dead when the photo was taken?

moko: I know the time of pronounced death – what is of interest here, is if the paramedics and the hospital staff believed Michael was dead before that. According to some reports, paramedics who arrived at Carolwood Drive wanted to treat Michael as a dead body, not a living patient. This is, I guess, what Joe wants to find out, so he can sue the photographer for invading the family privacy.

Oxman is a reflection of the people who employee him. The Jacksons, et al, are a blight on the hinny of humanity.

This groupie lawyer ruined his life, reputation and career by getting involved with the greedy Jacko clan. They only keep him around like a puppet on a string to file frivolous lawsuits for more $$$ that are tossed as fast as they can be filed.

We will not know the actual time of death because the room in which Michael was in was very warm keeping his body temperature up, which I believe was done on purpose. We are talking about June 25th what need would there be for a room with heat on? The time of death listed is when the Coroner givens his professional notice of death. The paramedics already said that Michael was deceased when they arrived but Murray demanded they perform CPR and when a Doctor is present he has the authority to tell the paramedics what to do. The paramedics also said(at least this is what I heard)that “Lividity” had set in and it takes hours for this to happen.
Michael was deceased when they were putting him it the ambulance and I do hope that the family can sue and maybe the media will finally learn that they cannot just print, post, and write anything they want about people. If Oxman is in need of an ethics class than what type of damn class should be given to Murray?

Oxman is destroying the image of the Jackson family and MJ’s legacy. The need to go to ethics training, implies he is not ethical and/or professional enough to practice? Then, stop rushing in to file court documents without doing proper homework and embrassed Joe Jackson, his client (see TMZ report).
Oxman was diassociated from MJ’s legal team by Mesereau in 2005 (see http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/0425052oxman1.html). Oxman is no longer involved with Mrs. Jackson’s legal affairs.
So, what is his real reasons to keep using Joe’s blind spot(not being included in MJ’s will)? Is there a conspiracy theory here for Oxman? Financial distress? All at the cost of Jackson Family’s public image and MJ’s legacy?
Can he just stop his big mouth, and let MJ rest in peace.

@DisturbedMJFan >> Brian Oxman is guilty of many things, but you can’t blame him for “destroying” the Jackson family image. THEY DID THAT ALL OWN THEIR OWN YEARS AGO! Ask Michael.

Way to MR. Oxman!!! Did you know that Barry K. Rothman, the attorney that got $22 million, for the Chandler’s, was an attorney for the very same Execs.[1970-75] Michael feared. And the Melvin Belli, stuff from 1993, more legal pirate action. Show me one of these guys thats ethical?
