Mariah Carey dedicates her new album, “Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel” to Michael Jackson. The album hits the world on September 29th.
“Angel” is a little different than most releases. This is the first time I can remember a major magazine — Elle, in this case — sponsoring the liner notes. “Angel” comes with a mini magazine tucked into the CD jacket, produced by Elle and featuring ads for Carey’s new fragrance and movie (”Precious”) as well as Mariah’s lists of favorite things and interviews with her and husband Nick Cannon. It’s a first, but what else do you expect from Mariah Carey?
Island Def Jam is not taking any chances with “Angel,” by the way. They’re starting with the release of Mariah covering Foreigner’s “I Want to Know What Love Is,” followed by a slew of potential singles — “Angels Cry,” “Ribbon,” and at least two others. So get ready for a Mariah onslaught — post-the Whitney Houston avalanche. And just before an Alicia Keys tsunami. It’s the autumn of the divas!

Angels Cry is a perfect single choice.
Mariah is really harping on the 90s again.
Classy image and mature singles.

aww that is very nice of Mariah.

Total Kiss Ass! She never mentioned MJ once during the conception of the album and now 5 days till drop she indicates it’s now a “dedication” disc. As if that’s enuff to get MJ fans to buy her mediocrity… SMH. Only 3 tracks I hear sound decent; the rest is nothing new. Basically filler material. Her pre-orders arent rocking the boat either. Not even in top 10 best selling albums on iTunes or amazon for that matter. Pretty low on the list at #27. That’s pretty sucky for a supposed big name recording artist 5 days before drop date. I’m sure MJ is rolling in his grave knowing “Obsessed” was actually a dedication to him. And I always thought it was dedicated to Eminem! LMAO, Moo Moo.

Awww that was very nice of her to do so … but if there is no M.J. song on it then why the dedication???? Anyway, I had already preordered it so it does not make a difference but I can’t say I love her version of the Foreigner song as yet. As for Alicia … love her as well but the song she release thus far like Janet J is a little lackluster and definitely not a hit like what happened with Whitney’s album … now that is a blockbuster album. All 3 ladies have potential like the Whitney album, they need to do better before they get slaughter by the gremlins who are waiting to get at them. What I am most happy about is that real music with depth is returning and yes this statement is coming from a young person.

The advertising booklet in the album is beyond tacky – so yes, I would expect nothing less from Mariah Carey.

Does the Elle booklet have an order form for Mimi butterfly necklaces or boudoir wear?

There is no comparison.. Marian is the top selling female artist of all time. Whitney blew it! Glad she’s back but really compare her to Mariah or Janet?? You can tell your age. Mariah doesn’t need to have a MJ song to dedicate her album to him. She has always stated how she feels abit Michael, his innocence, and always said he was her idol. Good for you Mariah!

Py, shut up they are all in a class by themselves and Whitney has a stronger vocal skills than all of them combined, so you need to know a little more facts b4 speaking. Dedicating it to him is getting the buzz out there especially since the critics are slaughtering her IDIOT. M.J. is in fashion now and everyone is using his name for profit, not that I am saying she is. From Beyonce using him on every leg of her damn show to garner his fan base to Mariah doing the same thing for her album. Stop being such a surface thinker idiot, whether it is sincere or not, there are many ways to look at it and I just spell out a different scenario, everybody jumping on the M.J. bandwagon of late. Whitney will always be the greatest voice that ever was in our generation which includes Mariah and Janet so STFU idiot and make sense. When Mariah had her breakdown the world was bashing her as well, but I supported … why are you forgetting that she had her meltdown like Whitney, the only difference is that Whitney’s meltdown lasted longer by choice sometimes and by the disease of drugs and love.

Wow..you can really tell your age now..so incredibly disrespectful!! What an attack when I know were in my comment attack you! Grow up dear and good luck in life..you seem to be very “angry” young woman..very sad!

Again, Friedman, the Foreigner song is NOT the 1st single- “Obsessed” was. It finally made the Top 10 so you can stop pretending it was never released!

These are potential singles. Angel’s Cry is not a good choice for single. I wish it well though. Ribbon is good. The fans will weigh in soon.

This article is not correct. She doesn’t dedicate any specific song to Michael Jackson, she only mentions him in the last line, it says “this album is dedicated to the king of pop Michael Jackson and my pastor Clarence Keaton (if that’s his name)” -> she’s not kissing anyone’s ass or whatever, she’s just remembering people that influenced her. gosh why have people always to be this ignorant, when they don’t know what they are talking about.
the album consists of many slow songs that can be considered radio-unfriendly, yes, but this is a concept album and no commercial record, ok? it takes it strength from good vocals and classy Mariah lyrics with the right amount of “joking around”. so even if it’s not a big hit (why does MC always have to be #1 to be the best – she can still be the best with a #1 album and a top 10 single and maybe another one and a 3rd top 40 single or so and 1 mill. copies sold).
so please stop hating and listen to the album when it comes out, if you not like it then, then it’s fine. there are potential radio hits – even some faster songs like More Than Just Friends, Standing O, Up Out My Face and Betcha Gon’ Know. so if they choose the right 3rd single all is possible. at least this album she get r&B grammy noms in 2011 because it deserves it – it’s classy and lyric-laden with beautiful music and not commercial at all. good work – my 5th most loved MC album already (after Mariah Carey, Butterfly, E=MC^2 & Charmbracelet).

I can’t stand those dumbtards who come around here to compare. Be it Whitney, Celine, Mariah, or whatever. Stop the comparison. It’s fucking stupid.

Very nice of Mariah to do, I know she’s always been a fan of Michael this isn’t some bandwagon thing as many would assume. In her catalog of no.1 hits, the only no.1 not written by her is “I’ll Be There” originally by the Jackson 5, I think that’s proof enough of her true respect.

I wonder why is it that people have to curse, attack other people and be disrespectful when voicing their opinion? If you would not like someone speaking to you in this manner and being mean, please refrain from doing it yourself as it does not make anyone look smarter or harder. It just makes the poster look incredibly ignorant and keeps most of us from reading posts or responding. I don’t care to scroll down a bunch of insults and curse words and I bet a lot of others don’t like it either. Can we just be civil, even if we disagree with one another? Thank you.
