It’s shake-up time for “Law & Order: Criminal Intent.”
Sources from the “L&O” galaxy say that stars Vincent D’Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, and Eric Bogosian are all expected to be phased out at various points during the series’ upcoming ninth season. Julianne Nicholson left the show a few months ago. Executive producer Dick Wolf is turning to Jeff Goldblum, who joined the cast last season, to remain as lead detective in the series along with Saffron Burrows, who was recently cast to replace Nicholson as Goldblum’s partner.
It’s a big change for a show that has weathered a lot of casting changes since it began in 2001. D’Onofrio and Erbe have been there since the beginning, while Bogosian joined in 2006. Since then, the original pair have had to make room for Nicholson and Chris Noth, who left last year. Goldblum arrived in 2008.
Details about D’Onofrio, Erbe and Bogosian’s exit are still unclear as the actors’ deals are being worked out. The network only recently renewed the Wolf Films/Universal Cable Prods. series for a ninth season, slated to premiere in late spring with a two-parter.
How interesting that Wolf has decided to go this way since D’Onofrio, while erratic, has been very popular. But “L&O:CI” is a USA Network show now after running on sister channel NBC. And USA, insiders point out, likes lighter fare when it comes to its shows. Goldblum is more in the tradition of Tony Shalhoub’s “Monk” than D’Onofrio.
While D’Onofrio is departing as a regular, it is possible for him to reprise his character in guest stints.
“Law & Order” just keeps chugging along in its various guises. The names change but the music remains the same.

Jeff Goldblum gees how many productions has that guy killed… send in the clown …
ahh ahhh ahhh yes unnn huhh give it a cold … YOU SUCK
his whole claim to fame is being involved with a semi-attractive woman who eventually turned lunatic skankho….
We need to get rid of these propaganda police and medical shows… and the dancing and singing shows while we are at it.

If they get rid of D’Onofrio, I’m gone, and so will most of the show’s other viewers. He’s the reason we all watch. Without him, there’s no show. If he’s willing to continue and they “phase him out” they are really stupid, and are killing the show. Better they only produce 10 or 12 episodes a season with just D’Onofrio and Erbe, than 16 or more without them, or with shared casting.
September 25th, 2009 at 4:05 am
No D’Onofrio, no Erbe……..I’m NOT watching. The show will die without them. The 2 of them MADE the show, Goren and Eames ARE the show. USA is stupid.
September 25th, 2009 at 4:43 am
Being a loyal fan of L&O C.I.
it will be difficult to come back
without Vincent. I’ll try.
Maybe he will visit with a 2 parter
where Nicole Wallace and Goren face off for the last time.
Just can’t believe that Goren’s mentor did her in awhile back.
Just how light can you make this type of crime drama?
You will certainly have to trim the gore for lighter fare.
September 25th, 2009 at 5:15 am
D’Onofrio is the ONLY reason I watch the show!
September 25th, 2009 at 5:18 am
The Law and Order has not and will not be the same without D’Onofrio and Erbe. I especially like D’Onofrio and can’t believe you would trade them off for a lighter version of CI I probably will not watch after they are gone.
September 25th, 2009 at 5:19 am
everyone loves D’Onofrio…he is the only reason that I and all my friends watch…please do not get rid of him. He is amazing. I LOVE HIM. If he leaves, I will no longer watch the show.
September 25th, 2009 at 5:26 am
I don’t like to see Vincent go! I like his character alot!
September 25th, 2009 at 5:26 am
I HATE JEFF GOLDBLUMS CHARACTER. I LOVE THIS SHOW BUT ONLY WHEN D’ONOFRIO AND ERBE ARE SCHEDULED TO APPEAR. THIS A BIG MISTAKE AND YOU WILL LOSE A LOT OF VIEWER LIKE ME.
September 25th, 2009 at 5:29 am
Huge mistake. Huge. The worst decision ever. I for one will no longer watch this show if these people are taken off. They are what make the show. I am sure I am not the only one that feels this way.
I thought the higher ups were suppose to be smart, isn’t that why they have the position they have, because they are suppose to be smart, wise decision makers.
Huge mistake, huge.
These actors are the ones who make the show, especially Vincent. He is a veteran of the show. Not to say anything about Goldblum but if it were not for Vincent and Erbe, the show would not exist. Goldblum came in after the show was already a huge success.
Terrible thing they are doing to Vincent and Erbe. Huge mistake. Huge.
I will miss this show. I will no longer watch it if they are gone.
September 25th, 2009 at 5:31 am
I wont watch it any more at all if they take VD out of it. I think he was as good as Columbo and much more interesting than Jeff Goldblum
September 25th, 2009 at 5:36 am
I can’t imagine Law&Order-ci without D’onofrio and Erbe
i will not watch anymore!
September 25th, 2009 at 5:37 am
D’Onofrio is just phenominal. Descriptive words fail me to tell just how much I love this man’s work on this show. I will not be watching Criminal intent if he is no longer in the cast as a regular. He is truly the only reason I’ve always watched. I’ll just have to watch something else when he’s gone
I’ll miss you D’Onofrio!!!! Golblum, you’re wonderful, always loved your work, but D’Onofrio is my man
GL in your future endeavors! I’ll be looking for your new works impatiently!
September 25th, 2009 at 5:38 am
I love the combo of Vincent D’Onofrio & Kathyryn Erbe & Eric Bogosian they are a great team that works together despite each of their personality disorders. Jeff Goldbloom is great too but they all could work together the show is popular enough it should be able to cover what ever contract issuses arise. Change is not always good!
September 25th, 2009 at 5:40 am
This is a shame. In an era of poorly written and acted ‘who done its’, D’Onofrio; Erbe and Bogosian show that there is one cast that can keep a person glued to the set.
There is an argument that D’Onofrio can be a bit erratic – BUT, isn’t that feature the nature of his character?
I fear that this change will be the beginning of the end for one of my favorite shows.
September 25th, 2009 at 5:46 am
While I am a huge fan of this show and Vincent, ever since USA took it over and the writers changed, this show has been crap. It’s lost it’s edge and it doesn’t know how to write Goren’s character with the edge anymore. So while I’m sorry to see him leave the show, I haven’t watched it in weeks anyway. JG is good on the show, but he ain’t no Goren and Eames.
September 25th, 2009 at 5:50 am
Well, it looks like Dick Wolf can kiss Criminal Intent goodbye. Without Vincent and Katherine, this show will not last. I have often wondered how these two fine talented actors have kept their cool with all the replacements that have come and gone. Jeff Goldblume is a talented actor to be sure, but Vincent and Katherine are “Criminal Intent” and without them, it just won’t work. They can count me out as a loyal follower of the show. Hopefully now, Vincent and Katherine can move on and showcase their talents with a much more creative and appreciative producer.
September 25th, 2009 at 5:50 am
Big mistake. the only reason why I watch L&O: CI is because of D’Onofrio and Erbe. I’ve watched the show from the very beginning. Have the DVDs.
September 25th, 2009 at 5:50 am
What a lost it’s going to be without the two main characters “D’Onofrio and Erbe.” Those are the two that actually make the show of Law & Order: CI, and the only reason why I watch L&O:CI. If I should watch new episodes or reruns and if Chris Noth and his cast mate are on…I immediately change the channel because no one plays the part better than the two mentioned that are being phased out. So, to Mr. D’Onofrio and Ms. Erbe, may the new roads that you travel bring you to more greatness in the LORD! I’ve really enjoyed you both!!
September 25th, 2009 at 6:05 am
This is about as smart an Idea as when they had Alex leave. Maybe they should have Elizabeth Hutchings aka etc. become a CI investigater. I just can’t believe in these times a compnay is so stupid to take a sure thing and screw it up. Jeff Glodblum is good but will sink the ratings because he is just not strong enough to carry the role. Hey if they want some new blood I could guess star on the show.
September 25th, 2009 at 6:14 am
With them gone; I’m done and gone too. Don’t care for Monk like.
September 25th, 2009 at 7:27 am
Biggest mistake ever! If this happens I will no longer watch ANY law & Order series. Vincent D’Onofrio is Criminal Intent. Who are they kidding.
September 25th, 2009 at 7:48 am
I, for one, will not watch Criminal Intent without Vincent D’Onofrio. He’s what makes the whole show so amazing!
September 25th, 2009 at 8:12 am
Oh no!!! Well, now that I’m upset and will be for awhile, I just can’t believe this. Gee, I am going to miss him. Darn it!!! Got to text my daughter now. She is going to flip out… I want him back EVERY WEEK!!!!!! Gee…………….
September 25th, 2009 at 8:24 am
The day Goran and Eames leave will also be my last time with this show.
September 25th, 2009 at 9:27 am
I have watched Law and OrderCI since it started and now I will just have to look for something else to look at. Goldblum was ok ,but not as good as Vincent. I never watched Monk even when it was on network so I won’t miss him when he’s gone.
September 25th, 2009 at 9:32 am
I use to like the USA network. I started watching when Law & Order Criminal Intent moved from NBC to USA. However, if they really are getting rid of Vincent D’Onofrio then I’m done with USA. I only started watching the USA network because of Criminal Intent. As for the other two Law & Order shows I don’t even bother watching them at this point.Vincent D’Onofrio is Criminal Intent without him there is no show. Bad move USA.
September 25th, 2009 at 10:12 am
I don’t know if I’ll keep watching after Vincent leaves but I will see how it goes. It is am ensemble so if it’s like the other L&Os it could survive with cast changes. But so many in the same season. Hmmm…
September 25th, 2009 at 10:21 am
The L&O series lose a cast member every few years but losing 3 main characters in the same season is insane! It won’t be the same w/o Eames & Goren. Once they leave, L&O:CI will lose a viewer in my household.
September 25th, 2009 at 10:24 am
If D’Onofrio and Erbe leave, I’m gone. It’s hard enough to find it on the schedule now, and I am looking for it! Lose Goren & Eames and the show is over.
September 25th, 2009 at 10:29 am
Jeff Goldblum’s character is not believable. i see what they are trying to do, but to have a character who can solve a seemingly impossible crime by simply going to a quiet place playing the piano is ridiculous.
September 25th, 2009 at 11:06 am
Goren and Eames are the show, period. I’ve watched them for years. It’s (seriously) only one of two shows I watch on TV other than news (SVU is the other), so I look forward to the new episodes. I’m done when they leave. I was pissed when they started featuring Goren and Eames every other week, now I’m just done.
September 25th, 2009 at 11:19 am
i’ve watched L&O:CI from day one, now have my two children waiting and we discuss the show..even re-runs on usa..my son is stationed in korea…no Ames and Goren no me way dose tv always want to fix what’s not broken..get rid of reality shows if you must rid your self of something
September 25th, 2009 at 11:20 am
BOOOO! I WiLL NOT watch without D’Onofrio -cancel it!!!!
September 25th, 2009 at 11:21 am
Wow. Are you kidding? There goes the show. Why do this to something which is already on the cheaper of the NBC affiliates? Stupid. I’ll be saying goodbye. Thanks for the great run with Vincent, Kate and Eric.
September 25th, 2009 at 11:56 am
[...] Law & Order: Criminal Intent is getting yet another makeover, and not for the better, I’d argue. Vincent D’Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe are out, Jeff [...]
September 25th, 2009 at 12:18 pm
I too have watched this series from the beginning, and when they started splitting the episodes ( Chris North) I made it a point to see every episode with D’Onofrio and Erbe, but I really didn’t care about the others. With Jeff Goldblum whom I enjoy I now watch both sets of shows, but if they push out D’Onofrio and Erbe, even with Goldblum, I will not make it appointment tv anymore as far as CI is concerned.
September 25th, 2009 at 12:20 pm
Jeff Goldblum is a pervy old geez. He’s unwatchable especially as he gets older.
Erbe and D’Onofrio made that show.
September 25th, 2009 at 12:33 pm
No Eames? Then I won’t be watching anymore. Geeze, how they even call it Criminal Intent if they get rid of all the characters? Jeff Goldblum’s character was fine, but I watched Criminal Intent for Goren and Eames. (She always gets the best lines!)
September 25th, 2009 at 12:38 pm
I hope the executives at USA and Dick Wolf check out all the blogs and message boards, fans are FURIOUS with this decision. Criminal Intent is not like the other Law And Orders, this show IS Vincent D’Onofrios. Without him….It’s nothing. And I won’t watch it.
September 25th, 2009 at 1:00 pm
I do not like JG and will and will not be watching it. It was a good show with the others but going down fast.
September 25th, 2009 at 1:03 pm
I only watch when Vincent & Kate are on. I tried Goldblum…no way, I turn to another channel when he is on…no interest at all because I am (our entire office)is convinced VDO is the best out there for this type of drama. Goodby CI, Goodby USA…If our group’s thoughts are any measure of how bad it’s going to get, this will be the last season for CI in any form.
September 25th, 2009 at 1:50 pm
You might as well start digging the grave, L&A:CI is dead. I loved the addition of Eric Bogosian a few seasons back. He’s the main reason I stayed with the program. I was not all that impressed with Jeff Goldblooms character this year. I can’t see how USA thinks he alone can saves the series. All three of the actors getting the ax are great tallents and will be missed…USA, you just lost one of your biggest fans! RIP L&O:CI
September 25th, 2009 at 1:55 pm
OMG!!! Biggest mistake ever!!! I like Jeff Goldblum, but I don’t think he can carry the show like Vincent, Kathryn and Eric. I have been watching since the show started. Please do not do this. Once Vincent and Kathryn are gone, so am I and I am sorry to say, but most likely so will the show. Congratulation’s to Wolf Films and Universal Cable Prods., to making the most stupid decision of their lives. If you people still have jobs after this decision back fires, I will be surprised. NICE JOB YOU MORONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 25th, 2009 at 2:10 pm
The writers of Criminal Intent should start working on another show.
I will no longer watch or support the Sponsers should the powers to be replace Vincent D’Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, and Eric Bogosian.
That’s my story, and I am sticking to it….
September 25th, 2009 at 2:34 pm
I’m surprised to see so many people reacting with such shock to what is the most obvious news story in entertainment this week. Look, I’m second to nobody in enjoying Vince as Goren, but he’s only made himself available to make 8-11 episodes a season for four years now. The whole reason Logan was brought back in season five was to have a full TV season’s worth of episodes since D’Onofrio had film work to do. He’s got big money paychecks coming. And Goldblum, who does not appear to, has made himself available for a great deal more promotion (and cross-program promotion, like appearing as Nichols in an ad to say goodbye to Mink) than D’Onofrio ever did.
Speaking of Monk, I submit that USA has been fully aware of Vince’s popularity and fanbase for years, else they would never have picked up the show, and that the “insiders” who brought up Monk as a supposed desire for “lighter” drama are just blowing smoke. The network gets plenty of viewers with the hardly-light SVU marathons, don’t they?
September 25th, 2009 at 2:39 pm
If they are gone so am I. They made the show and will be missed. What are the producers thinking? What a big mistake….
September 25th, 2009 at 2:49 pm
I have noticed a physical change in the Goren Character (weight gain specifically) and wonder if his decision to leave the show as a regular is based on medical reasoning or advice? I am no doctor, but I have heard that some drugs meant to treat immune system or chronic inflamation and other large-scale problems have a side effect of bloating, fluid retention, or weight gain.
I have no idea if the medical reason is the real reason for the casting shake up. However, it might explain the change in appearance over the years and the decision after 8 seasons of being a regular character.
I very well could be wrong about the medical reason. I am just throwing out the thought that maybe there is a reason motivating this move that has little to do with other acting opportunities and money.
September 25th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
I AM SO UPSET VINCENT D”ONOFRIO ISSSSSS LAW AND ORDER “CRIMINAL INTENT” ARE YOU KIDDING ME, JEFF CANNOT PULL THIS OFF. VINCENT IS ONE OF A KIND!! THESE DIRECTORS OR WRITERS AND PRODUCERS ARE SENSELESS!!!BIG MISTAKE…I WILL EXIT WATCHING WHEN THEY EXIT CI!!
September 25th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
please don’t take them off this show. it will not be the same and usa i will no longer be watching. i guess i will have to buy the dvd’s of the reruns and watch those. what can you possible gain from this? dick wolf you are and idiot.
September 25th, 2009 at 3:17 pm
Vincent D’Onofrio has had my heart since Platoon and loved him in The Cell, he is incredible!!! What is this? Because he has put some weight on? Getting gray? I do not care if he puts on another 50 and his hair all falls out, I love his character and nobody can play that role like Vincent! (And leave Eames alone, too, it is a perfect chemistry!)
I don’t watch now unless it is his episode, that is what you are seeing in the drop- off you are trying to correct! Fine cut him so some one else gives him a show and I can go back to seeing him fulltime. I definitely won’t be watching if this goes through…network idiots!
September 25th, 2009 at 4:59 pm
Sure, Goldblum is good (much, much better than Chris Noth), and CI is some of the best work he has done, but Criminal Intent without D’Onofrio and Erbe is like condiments without the hot dog. –Steve
September 25th, 2009 at 5:08 pm
I have watched L&O: CI since the beginning but when Vincent D’Onofrio goes & Katherine Erbe – I’m gone too. He played a brilliant, intelligent, edgy cop, while Erbe was the calm, intelligent, partner. Yet his character respected hers & lately the humour was becoming delightful between them. There is no other show on television that could hold my attention as well as these two. The day Mr. Wolfe gets rid of Sam Waterston – D.A. on L&O, that show is gone for me also.
It is one of the shows I am always home for or have record as a series. Jeff Goldblum is OK but will never equal VD. Him, I would never record. This is a sad day for me.
September 25th, 2009 at 5:25 pm
While I am not a big D’Onofrio fan, this is a mistake. Goldblum is a good actor, but this is not the part for him. My favorite was Chris Noth. I like Erbe, Bogosian and Nicholson. One less show for me to watch! I still love the other 2 “L&O” shows.

Good bye CI! I just started liking Bogosian’s character (always liked Jamie Sheridan!) But CI without Goren and Eames??? Come one! Just cancel it now!
September 25th, 2009 at 6:09 pm
No reason to watch this show anymore … very sad to hear
September 25th, 2009 at 6:13 pm
I HATED THAT SHOW ANYWAYS. I’M GLAD ITS GONE. KATHRYN ERBE WAS AN IGNORANT PIECE OF SHIT WHEN I MET HER IN A STORE IN BROOKLYN.
September 25th, 2009 at 6:23 pm
It’s no wonder why the series has lost it’s main actors,I have heard horror stories about how they were treated by the studio they work for.I’m sure it has all to do with those assholes, that’s why everyone is leaving.because of the scumbags they work for.like the security following the actors around, I happen to know who one of them is, his name is Joe Nuzzo and he hit on Kathryn Erbe.
September 25th, 2009 at 6:34 pm
If they go, I go. There is no reason to watch this show anymore. I won’t even watch how they write them off.
September 25th, 2009 at 6:39 pm
I have been a loyal fan of Law & Order C.I. since the very beginning. I agree that the quality of the show went down a bit when USA took over. However, with these latest changes to the show, I will be looking for somthing else to watch. It is amazing how many bone headed moves television executives can make to kill a good thing.
September 25th, 2009 at 6:40 pm
Dick Wolf is an idiot if he thinks this show will have continued success without his star players. Very bad decision! I will be tuning out.
September 25th, 2009 at 6:41 pm
Big mistake getting rid of D’Onofrio. I only watch Law & Order Criminal Intent with D’Onofrio and Erbe. D’Onofrio is an amazing actor and I seriously believe you won’t last another season without him. People love this guy. What are you thinking? I am very disappointed and will not watch after he is gone. “Vincent, when one door closes, you can be sure another will open to bigger and better things. God bless.
September 25th, 2009 at 7:30 pm
Bad idea. When Vincent leaves, I will no longer watch the show.
September 25th, 2009 at 7:35 pm
No Vincent, no viewers.
September 25th, 2009 at 7:40 pm
D’Onofrio and Erbe are the only reasons to watch they show. If they are gone. No need to watch. I have hated everyone else they have tried to bring on the show. They just don’t have the edge those two have. The show won’t make it without them.
September 25th, 2009 at 8:04 pm
I have watched Law and OrderCI since it started.AND have been a die-hard viewer of ALL the Law & Order series’. The original cast has always been the best, It was grea tand creative to have Chris Noth back too, The show is nothing without the intesity of D’Onofrio and balance of Erbe’s character, However D’Onofrio has always been an exceptional film actor too, Please make sure they come back off nad on. THERE IE IS NOTHING LIGHT HEARTED ABOUT MAJOR CRIMES.
BE VERY SURE OF WHAT YOU PLAN TO DO-KEEP THE BEST, WITH THE OTHER REPLACEMENTS AS BACK-UP TEAMS DIANE FROM TEXAS

FuC* THAT SH!T !!!!!!!!!!!
if Goren & Eames are gone so am I, might as well cancel the show really as Goldblum’s character was BLAH !
September 25th, 2009 at 8:49 pm
Well…that’s it for me. No Goren and Eames…no me watching L&O:CI anymore.
How could the people who are supposed to be the “gurus” of the TV world make such a catastrophic mistake. Vincent and Kathryn have portrayed their roles with the utmost perfection. They really bring you into the plot and make you forget that it is just a TV show. They totally immerse you in the story line. I can never understand why the powers that be will take an absolutely marvelous work and destroy it. It’s as though they CAN’T stand success! I would only watch CI when Goren and Eames were in an episode. No offense to Noth, Goldblum, and the parade of partners that they had, but the real CI was GOREN & EAMES. Good Luck to Vincent and Kathryn in their future endeavors. I’m sure they will do well. (BTW, I thouroughly enjoyed Vincent’s portrayal of the Extra-Terrestrial Villian in “Men in Black”…totally awesome performance.)
September 25th, 2009 at 9:24 pm
I love Vincent, but I loved him more when he wasn’t so fat, I won’t watch if he is off the show, I want to watch Bobby get a love life for once!!
September 25th, 2009 at 10:55 pm
I completely agree with the fact that Goren & Eames were obviously the main & only reason why L&O Criminal Intent was so popular… because their characters had always made them so unique & unpredictable.” If you compare them to all the actors from the other 2 L&O franchises…these 2 were in a league of their own!!!! That’s what made them standout the most… and the show moving on w/o them will suck…FOREVER!!!!
September 26th, 2009 at 12:25 am
LOCI lost its edge (and a lot of fans) when the network and writers started screwing with the Goren character trying to make the show like all the sappy Jerry Bruckheimer clones on the air. It’s been painful to watch the quality plummet. I’ve hung in just to watch D’Onofrio. I’d be willing to bet he too is glad to be leaving this sinking ship.
September 26th, 2009 at 2:39 am
I agree with many here, Vincent D’Onofrio is Criminal Intent, without him there is no show. I’ve been a fan since week 1, but no more.
September 26th, 2009 at 4:27 am
It’s about time they got rid of Vincent D’Onofrio. What a ham, he’s the reason I stopped watching this show! I like my Law & Order(s) story driven…not character driven. Good move!
September 26th, 2009 at 5:12 am
[...] The Hollywood Reporter and set sources are both saying that Vincent D’Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, and Eric Bogosian are all being written out of the show. September 26th, 2009 at 7:41 am
I know of several ladies who will be terribly disappointed to see Vincent D’onofrio leave Law & Order CI. BIG MISTAKE Several of us discuss the show and “him” especially the next day at work. He and Ms. Erbe are great together. Please rethink this error.

Goren and Eames are the reason I watch.
September 26th, 2009 at 8:51 am
Well……looks like the real deal is money issue to me just like private industry…get rid of the high salaries and go with someone who they don’t have to pay as much. Thinks about it —-once you win an Oscar, you don’t see the actors much after that because their salaries are too high.

Whats the expression-when its NOT broke-DON”T FIX IT!
Without Vincent L&O-CI will lose me. Keep Kathryn too.
His acting skills are unreal with what he does with his character, Goren RARE. HUGE MISTAKE Mr. Wolf is making. The origional L&O that I’ve watched for 19 yrs. is NOT the same with the great REDUCTION of Sam W. character, Jack McCoy. I’M BARELY hanging onto that show. If Sam leaves then that will end that show for me as well.
September 26th, 2009 at 11:10 am
Big Mistake. HUGE MISTAKE if Vincent isn’t on the show. I agree with others that it is his UNIQUE acting skills that made his characte come alive. They should keep Kathryn too as she is an excellent actress and they enchance each other. If he isn’t on the show I’ll be another viewer lost too. I can’t believe that Mr. Wolf doesn’t realize this aftter seeing all the sterling work that he has created throughout the years. I’ve watched the origional L&O for 19 years and I’m hanging onto that by a thread as they so dramatically reduced the part of Sam W. (Jack McCoy character)that I believe was also the principle actor that made that show. If that happens that show will bite the dust with me as well. As they say, “when something is NOT broke DON’T fix it”..
September 26th, 2009 at 11:13 am
Will not every watch this show again, after there gone. Hope you read all the comment’s above and really think this change you are about to make over real good. ( ONE BIG MISTAKE.)
September 26th, 2009 at 12:12 pm
Vincent has been talking about leaving the show for quite some time. He said a few years ago that he wanted to phase out. I knew when the brought Goldblume on that it was the beginning of the end for Goren. I dont think Vincent leaving is as much a network decision as it is a Vincent decision. He had a pretty promising movie career before CI began. Perhaps he wants to stretch his creative wings. I will miss him. I love his character, but I like Jeff Goldblume too. He’s not to be compared to Goren, because their characters a different. I think if some people will give him a chance, he might grow on you.
September 26th, 2009 at 12:19 pm
This show jumped the shark when they brought Goldblum on board. With Vincent and 3 other actors all leaving in the same season, well… could it have anything to do with Jeff being there? Coincidence? hmmm… I think not.He ruined “Silverado” with his character “Slick” and now he’s on this show. I am soooooooooo gone. They should just change the name to “The Jeff Goldblum show. And then cancel it.
September 26th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
I agree with the preceding comments. It would be interesting to find out the reasons for their departures — financial, loss of creative writers, ratings problem, management nervous breakdown leading to irrational decisions, or maybe the actors want out.
Anyway, in my opinion the episodes with Olivia d’Abo [Nicole/Elizabeth] were outstanding and at least one more with her and “Bobbie” would be terrific.

Law&Order-ci without D’onofrio and Erbe forget it otherwise it will be the beginning of the end.

It is heartening to find out that so many other feel the same way that I do, that Law and Order CI was great because of D”Onofrrio and Erbe. I am actually searching for movies he was in, and may buy the former seasons on DVD. But I agree that this is a bad decision. D’Onofrio makes the show.
September 26th, 2009 at 3:28 pm
[...] The Hollywood Reporter and set sources are both saying that Vincent D’Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, and Eric Bogosian are all being written out of the show. That would mean that Jeff Goldblum would be the star of the show and that new cast members would have to be hired. D’Onofrio might make guest appearances in the future. [...]

I only watch L&O: CI, I’ve stopped watching all of the others years ago. While I am enjoying Goldblum’s episodes, I will really tune in for D’Onofrio and Erbe. If they go, I will just have to continue to watch the repeats. It will be a sad day.
September 26th, 2009 at 5:47 pm
Vincent D’Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, and Eric Bogosian THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES. I can’t believe the ride is over. It went by so fast. I wish you all much success.
Law & Order Light, No Thanks.
September 26th, 2009 at 8:07 pm
Vincent and Katherine ARE the show…Jeff is OK but really just someone we tolerate until Vincent is back! Big mistake why not just cancel the show-either keep the cast the REASON why we watch the show or get cancel-who cares about Jeff Goldblum!!! No one has alliegence to him, this news has mad me sick!
September 26th, 2009 at 8:13 pm
What everybody else said.
September 26th, 2009 at 9:46 pm
Without Bobby Gorem and Alex Eames, I will not watch, especially D’Onofrio! I think getting rid of these two is a very big mistake. These two are my heros. Jeff Goldblum is a goofball. The show is Eames and Gorem. No actor can compare to Vincent D’Onofrio. When he goes, I stop watching!
September 27th, 2009 at 3:40 am
I have faithfully viewed this show since it first came on the air. The last episode D’Onofrio appears on will be the last time I watch the show.
September 27th, 2009 at 3:58 am
I think people may be missing the point on what makes the Law and Order universe compelling. The overall story when you combine all the shows into one universe is that like real life, people come and go and sometimes it’s unpleasant. I’m not going to threaten not to watch if they aren’t on the show any longer but I will say this: Big Mistake. I think the characters are well defined /established and still fresh. We don’t know the reason for the changes. It could even be coming from the actors, I haven’t heard. I do hate to see this happen. I’d rather they not do prevent the characters from returning at some point. I could live with Chris Noth sharing the show but sorry Jeff, your character ain’t ‘jellin’.
September 27th, 2009 at 4:18 am
What the heck are you people thinking (or not)? D’Onofrio, Erbe and Bogosian ARE the show. Erbe and D’Onofrio compliment each other perfectly and while I missed Jamie Sheridan, Bogosian was an excellent choice. You people screwed up big time and we will no longer be watching CI.
September 27th, 2009 at 5:13 am
I used to watch all 3 of the Law and Orders, now I only watch Law and Order Criminal Intent. Then they took it off of NBC and throw it on USA, which meant a new schedule for tv watchers which I am not complaining but loved all the Law and Orders on NBC, 3 nights in a row, etc. Anyway, I don’t like Jeff Glodblum to me he is trying to copy Vincent, and no one can take his place. No one can take Kathryn Erbe’s as Eaves either. Dick Wolf keeps pissing me off, I no longer watch the original Law and Order because they kept changing actors/actress’s, same with SUV, now the 2 main characters won’t be on Criminal Intent, well Dick, that’s another show I won’t be watching just the re-runs when Vincent is in it. So, it looks like I won’t be watching any more Law and Order’s at all unless it’s a re-run. All I got to say is good job Dick for screwing up another one of the group series (all 3 Law and Orders). And to think I used to watch all of them from day one and slowly stopped as it got worse. I am sure I will find something else to watch in it’s place.
September 27th, 2009 at 6:16 am
How can they do this????? What is wrong with these people??? Goren and Eames ARE the show for myself and many of my friends. I will not watch it if they are taken off! Why Vincent and Eames were never nominated for Emmys is amazing to me too!! Jeff is not a fraction as good as Vincent D’onofrio and everybody knows it!! I am very upset, this is about the only show I watch on TV simply because you Vincent D’onofrio and Eames are such fantastic actors and you never know what to expect. Give them raises that they both deserve and let’s continue to live in Gorens and Eames world!!! I am in shock, what a BIG mistake for USA to do, let’s have a petition guys!!!
September 27th, 2009 at 6:36 am
Way to go, what a way to ruin this show, Vincent is what made the show.. Even when they changed Captains and other cast members, Vincent was still the top character. If you people take him and KE off the show you are going to lose viewers so fast you will have to cancel the show because no one will watch, maybe that’s the way of getting the show cancelled anyway. This is a big mistake. If they can’t see it, then maybey They need to be cancelled. Jeff is good but he’s no Vincent. I won’t watch it anymore….too bad, one of the only shows that I watch. Monk is a freakin’ joke. ppuuhhhlleeez
September 27th, 2009 at 6:44 am
I agree that the show is Goren and Eames. However, I was resistant when Bogosian joined and after a while, was pleasantly surprised. I LIKE Goldblum. I don’t find him ‘Monkish”. I think it’s his best TV role to date. If D’Onofrio and Erbe pop in from time to time, that will be great. I believe the show does need a shake up and I’ll back Goldblum and Wolf to see what’s next. I wholeheartedly agree that the reason the Law and Order triple series remain strong is because of the continual cast changes.
September 27th, 2009 at 6:53 am
While Jeff is fun to watch, Vinny is Fascinating to watch. And Kat is great partnered with him. I don’t care if Eric stays or leaves … the role of their Captain isn’t important. But without Vinny & Kat, this goes from “Must See TV” to “Oh, the show was on last night and I missed it. Maybe I’ll catch it next week if I remember to tune in”. Vinny & Kat make this show memorable.
September 27th, 2009 at 7:01 am
USA id flippin us off as their bread and butter.
When Vince and Kathrine leave ther will be no CSI Criminal intent left.
While Goldblum is a little “Monkish” He cannot take Monk’s place.
Tried and tru works for fans. Leave Vincent and Katherine alone, unless they want to leave.
They are an excellent team onscreen and MANY of USA Network fans will leave the network because their other shows are barely passable. Why would we be loyal to USA ie NBC????
September 27th, 2009 at 7:08 am
What a catastrophe. Without Goren they may as well make the show a cartoon and put it on Saturday morning. Eames was the perfect partner for him, if they want a “lighter” version for the USA channel maybe they should cast Rachel Ray, at least we might find a tasty appetizer recipe. Horrible, horrible move.
September 27th, 2009 at 8:55 am
I LOVE Goldblum on this show….there are times Goren’s antics are too much…will miss K. Erbe, and I do like D’Onofrio, but when Jeff showed up, I thought, cool, more quirkiness in a different way, which allows L&O to explore more and different directions, more chance for new creativity. That’s how good shows maintain their excellence….I love Noth too…and was sorry to see him go.
September 27th, 2009 at 10:24 am
Oh well. I enjoyed it for so long but no Vincent and no Kathryn no CI for me. You’re Ruining a good thing.
September 27th, 2009 at 10:27 am
What are they thinking? I’ve watched every show with Vincent and Katherine. They made the show. Who needs another Monk? It’s a shame that USA ruined a great team. I’ll no longer be watching CI. Good luck to Vincent & Katherine.
September 27th, 2009 at 10:28 am
Law & Order CI without D’Onofrio? How dare the studio do this!!!
Give him his own show!!! We LOVE YOU VINCENT!
September 27th, 2009 at 10:30 am
I AM WITH U ALL..IF GORAN AN EAMES LEAVE I AM DONE WATCHING THE SHOW. THOSE TWO MAKE THE SHOW. WHEN THEY WOULDN’T BE ON THE EPISODES SHARING THE SHOW I DIDN’T WATCH IT. I THINK JEFF GOLDBLUM SUCKS IN THAT ROLE. THEY ARE MAKING A HUGE MISTAKE HERE. THATS LIKE CHANGING SVU..WELL U WILL DEFFINATELY LOOSE ME AS A VIEWER.DON’T CHANGE WHAT AIN’T BROKE.
September 27th, 2009 at 10:33 am
I too love Vincent D’Onofrio. This is a huge mistake and they definitely lose me losing him, every which way that can be interpreted since I look like him as well. This is not to say I don’t like Jeff Goldblum, I’m sure he’ll do his own great thing, but I feel Vincent was one of the great tv characters and to carry on the show that was his all the way without him seems wrong.
September 27th, 2009 at 10:35 am
I’ve enjoyed Law & Order CI for a long time. Don’t like Jeff Goldblum at all. If D’Onofrio & Erbe are gone it won’t be worth watching. They’re ruining a good show.
September 27th, 2009 at 10:45 am
Law & Order CI without Goren and Eames SUCKS!!! I don’t like Goldblum on the show at at. Goren/Eames makes the show work. When they leave, I’ll stop watching the show. This really bums me out and ruins my Sunday!
September 27th, 2009 at 10:46 am
IF ERBE &D’OFRIO LEAVE, THEY HAVE LOST MYSELF AND 4 GRANDCHILDREN 18-23 YRS OF AGE. JEFF DOES NOT FIT IN WITH THIS SHOW. ANOTHER WRITER COMPARED HIM TO MONK, AS MUCH AS I DISLIKE MONK, JEFF IS MUCH WORSE.
September 27th, 2009 at 10:52 am
Why do producers always keep tinkering with good shows and ruin them? I liked this show better when Courtney Vance & Jamie Sheridan were on it. Bogosian is OK but he’s too abrasive and tries to rein in D’Onofrio while the other superiors let him do his stuff in his own way. Goldblum is a good actor but why bother to create another quirky character when D’Onofrio’s was plenty. Chris Noth and his lady partners provided good character balance to D’Onofrio & Erbe’s style and should have stayed. If this show lasts another season, I’ll be suprised.
September 27th, 2009 at 10:53 am
If Vincent leaves the show, I will leave the show. He is the reason I watch. He makes the show. How STUPID are the producers? He is a mainstay. He is the one who brought the show! What happened to the old saying: Dance with the one that brung ya! BAD, BAD, MOVE for Law and Order, CI.
September 27th, 2009 at 10:54 am
I’m with the consensus of the comments posted: D’Onofrio and Erbe go and I’m gone as a viewer.
Goren has this deep twisted way of getting at the heart of cases and Eames plays the best straight “man” to Goren’s edgy character. As someone mentioned, the show has been losing its edge for the past couple of seasons, though it seemed to be getting back on track, ironically, when Goldblum and Nicholson alternated and occasionally paired up with Goren and Eames on last season’s episodes.
I think Dick Wolff and his Law & Order franchise is now coming to an end–these bad casting decisions are evidence of that. Well, it was a pretty good run but if I’m going to watch “lighter” fare, it won’t be L&O: Criminal Intent because my “intent” in watching the show was because it explored the grittier, darker side of human nature.
September 27th, 2009 at 11:03 am
i have watched csi criminal intent since the beginning.have never missed one episode. that will never be again. i will not watch the series anymore.D’Onofrio and Erbe are the best.good bye best friends and CSI criminal intent.
September 27th, 2009 at 11:05 am
I can’t believe that they are getting rid of the best characters on the show. I think Vincent, Katherine and Eric especially Vincent make the show what it is. This is a really bad move. Not a favorite of Jeff
Goldblum as an actor. Not sure if I will continue to watch.
September 27th, 2009 at 11:17 am
Are you kidding they might as well change the name of show because Criminal Intent is Vincent & Katherine. I will no longer watch without them why then the show becomes like all the other Cop Shows.
September 27th, 2009 at 11:18 am
The only reason I don’t watch Law and Order is because of D’onofrio’s lousy acting. Looks like I’m in the minority as far as these blogs go. Surreal!
September 27th, 2009 at 11:18 am
What are you thinking!? Getting rid of Vincent D’Onofrio is pure folly! Don’t let him leave! Nor his partner, Kathryn Erbe. They are a team, and the only reason I have watched CI all these years! D’Onofrio has more talent in his little finger than Goldblum has in his whole being! I will watch nothing with JG in it. D’Onofrio IS Law & Order, CI! He cannot be replaced! There is no one with his talent for that role!
Are you awake?!
It looks like this is the end for my enjoyment of CI. I will NOT watch it with the changes you propose to make, and I have not watched more than 3 minutes of the new episodes containing Goldblum. We do not need another Monk (awful show!) wanna-be. It destroys the character of the show. I can only hope that the re-runs with the 2 stars, D’Onfrio and Erbe, and Eric Bogosian (who was an excellent add to the cast) will last in syndication so that I can watch them and remember what a marvelous show this was until you got rid of the very actors that made it what it is! It will never be the same without them!
PLEASE, wake up!…before it’s too late!
September 27th, 2009 at 11:23 am
No D’Onofrio, no Erbe, no Bogosian….what??? Then that’s the end of Criminal Intent!! I’ll not be watching either.
September 27th, 2009 at 11:25 am
D’Onofrio’s Goren is one of televisions greatest and most memorable characters. Intelligent, quirky, flawed – in other words a real character. Likewise, the Goren and Eames pairing is one of televisions finer creations. Erbe and D’Onofrio have great chemistry and deserve better writers and/or new show.
September 27th, 2009 at 11:26 am
i love jeff goldblum but Vincent D’nofrio has been the life blood of this show from the begining….Erbe should have left before now….no vincent? No Chris Noth? Jeff can never take on all of the success of the show by himself….a death nell for L&O:CI!A real shame…not to mention a slap in the face to all loyal fans of the show!
September 27th, 2009 at 11:28 am
OK, let’s get real. What they really want to do is cancel the show and this is their way of doing it. Vincent IS the show. I love that show because of him. If he goes–the show goes. And they know that.
September 27th, 2009 at 11:30 am
This is terrible news. I have enjoyed the new Goldblum character, but I can’t imagine not seeing D’Onofrio, Erbe and Bogoshian. I suppose I will give the new show a chance, but under protest.
September 27th, 2009 at 11:34 am
I am stunned that they are choosing to go down this path. Goren is the man! Why would they want to ruin the show by getting rid of him and Eames? D’Onofrio is my only reason for getting interested in this show and I kept coming back for more. He is a giant talent. I loved the Nicole Wallace episodes. He’s so over the top and fearless. My husband says no one is that smart, but I beg to differ, Goren is! Big mistake replacing him.
September 27th, 2009 at 11:37 am
No Vincent! No Kathryn! No USA network for me! I wonder if Vincent really wanted off the show. He knows he can do better. I will miss my weekly or bi-weekly fix of Vincent. There is always DVDs. Vincent, may this change in the road lead to roles that you deserve.
September 27th, 2009 at 11:40 am
I love Vincent D’Onofrio, and I remember when they began alternating him with Chris Noth. I never cared for Noth and was glad when he left, and I like Jeff Goldblum very much. I really hope they reconsider this move; these three are not expendable, and Bogosian is the bridge between D’Onofrio and Goldblum.
September 27th, 2009 at 11:41 am
What a shame. Vincent created a memorable and unique character in Goren. I absolutley LOVE the work. And I’ll admit that I too change the channel when its anything but Eames and Goren. But the last few seasons have been disappointing. Did Vincnet lose his focus or did Goren lose his? Seems like both are just going through the motions. No zing, no heart, no soul. I hope that if this does happen, that Bobby AND Vincent find their way back to the caliber of work we’re come to know.
September 27th, 2009 at 11:44 am
Here’s my vote too, I will not watch L&O:CI,sorry Jeff. When they move to USA, I followed, now I must follow them again. There is onlu one Monk and Jeff can’t be him so Monk has a sickness. I am so sad to see this happen. I love how Eames gets Goren, how strong her character is in her quiet way. My two favorite policemen are Goren and Columbia, now I’ll see you in reruns and DVDs.
September 27th, 2009 at 11:52 am
Bad move – to say the least! D’Onofrio and Erbe are the only reason to watch and when they are not on, I don’t watch. The characters they portray are interesting, balance each other perfectly and totally make the show.
Hope the “bosses” will reconsider and do the right thing by keeping these two good actors and their characters!
September 27th, 2009 at 11:54 am
I will NEVER watch CI again if D’Onofrio and Erbe leave. They are the show – I never liked Jeff Goldblum and he is a clown in this show – not a real cop. This is the only Law and Order I watch. If the episodes shown star Goldblum or repeat episodes star Noth, I change channel. Without these two fine actors, there is no show. I hope they change their minds. I’m going to miss them. Good Luck Vinnie!
September 27th, 2009 at 12:01 pm
This is a HUGE mistake!
Losing Vincent D’Onofrio is insane.
And, thinking that Jeff Goldblum can replace him is even crazier.
September 27th, 2009 at 12:02 pm
Well, USA you have lost me as a viewer also, D’Onofrio and Erbe ARE Law & Order CI, I love his character! Can’t abide Goldbumn, don’t watch it when he is on now. You all are taking the best TV series to come along in years and screwing it up royally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Why can’t you leave well enough alone?
September 27th, 2009 at 12:05 pm
Well, I guess the exec who decided that M&M’s could not be in “ET” and the one who decided that Bill Cosby could not be on ABC found work with USA, because that is the kind of decision that these 2 would make.
Good bye Vincent & Kathryn. You deserve better.
September 27th, 2009 at 12:09 pm
What a stupid move! No Vincent, no Katherine, no Eric … NO CRIMINAL INTENT!!! I tried to adjust to USA’s bland, water-downed version but this is just too much. They have lost me forever. Vincent D’Onfrio is the ONLY reason I have ever watched this show and he and Katherine Erbe are the best team in the business. Why renew the show when they just killed it with this stupid move??
September 27th, 2009 at 12:09 pm
The only reason to watch this show is Vincent D’Onofrio.
September 27th, 2009 at 12:10 pm
They’re getting rid of the only actors that made watching the show worthwhile. No longer a must-see for me.
September 27th, 2009 at 12:18 pm
this is horrific, i watch the show cause of donofrio and erbe, could do without the captain but even with goldblum, i can take. i wont watch the show any longer without donofrio and erbe.
huge mistake to lose these characters, they make the whole show and i hated when every other week would be noth etc and i watch the original law and order .
September 27th, 2009 at 12:24 pm
if vincent kathryne and eric go i go. i know you guys will be sorry. i know that they will get better oppertunties fast and when they do i be there to support them.
September 27th, 2009 at 12:25 pm
I became an “L&O” viewer through my mother’s passion for “SVU.” I became an “L&O:CI” devotee owing to the depth of writing, tension and resolution of adult stories, and strengths of Goren and Eames as individual characters and as a team.
Occasional CI episodes featuring a different team are tolerable; “Monk” is thoroughly enjoyable … whacky, funny, interesting, and occasionally quite touching.
But “CI” with Goren and Eames is my special show; I watch the USA network BECAUSE it shows “L&O:CI” as it has always been, not because I want something lighter. USA could show series reruns forever and I’d still watch; but, if the series stars are changed, I will find other shows elsewhere.
September 27th, 2009 at 12:25 pm
I have watched L&O CI since it first debued on NBC.I was disappointed when Vincent and Kathryn split the season with Chris Noth but suffered thru it. However if both leave the show it won’t be worth watching anymore. I have stuck with L&O all these years in spite of many cast changes, but in my book, noone can rplace DOnofrio.I’ll just have to either find something else towatch on Sunday nights or read my booksinstead. Wish USA could see what a terrible mistake they;’re making. Then again it seems as if the networks never make decisions according to the audience, always according to their owon wallets.
September 27th, 2009 at 12:27 pm
Definitely the wrong move. D’Onofrio and Erbe were the reason that I watched the show– always my favorite of the L&O franchise. While I like Jeff Goldblum as an actor, he is just not right for this show, I have tried to watch it with him in it and I end up turning it off after 10 minutes.
Just dont kill off the team — hopefully the mistake will be realized and they will be back as the regulars next year.
September 27th, 2009 at 12:27 pm
If D’Onafrio goes, I wont watch, while I love the show, He is the one that made it what it was. I am not drawn the the character that Goldblum protrays. Too bad, it was one show I never missed and always watched the reruns,.
September 27th, 2009 at 12:27 pm
Honestly, I really did find the Goren character to be getting REALLY tired a while back, and I liked Noth’s episodes better. I’d heard a couple of times before that the producers had thought of replacing VD, and that bringing Noth in was supposed to relieve the show of the continual VD burden. It worked for me, and I very much like Goldblum’s character. I’d be happy to watch Jeff Goldblum any time — I like his work.
But I’ll really miss Eric Bogosian, I will.
September 27th, 2009 at 12:29 pm
I will not watch Law and Order CI anymore. Vincent and Kathryn made the show. I don’t even like Monk…just end the show!!!
September 27th, 2009 at 12:30 pm
D’Onofrio is the soul of Law & Order Criminal Intent. The only regret I ever had about the show was that he wasn’t on every week. He’s the reason I watched USA Network and discovered other shows worth watching. I’ll be seeing a lot less USA programming without D’Onofrio to pull me in.
September 27th, 2009 at 12:35 pm
When Bobby & Alex go, so will I. They have a special “partner” chemistry that works. His quirks, his genius, her steadiness, her heartbreaking loyalty and street-smarts………you can’t get that kind of power from other actors, even with the same writers. It’ll be same old, same old……No, I won’t watch without them……..Really bad move USA……….
September 27th, 2009 at 12:35 pm
I definitely will not be watching L&O:CI without Vincent D’Onofrio. He and Kathryn Erbe ARE the show. While Jeff Goldblum is OK in his role, the Goren and Eames episodes are the ones that I wait for. Phasing them out is a VERY bad decision by the network.
September 27th, 2009 at 12:36 pm
Wow… I can’t believe it. With Vincent and Kathryn I won’t watch Law & Order CI. That would seriously be a poor decision to make on their part. I am still in shock after reading this article. That’s the whole reason why I even started watching the show. I LOVE Vincent D’Onfrio. That stinks… what a bummer : (
September 27th, 2009 at 12:37 pm
Mr Vincent D`Onofrio is the start, he is smart, he is the show…Nobody could do this character…Just he is “Law and Order Crimininal Intent”!!!!!!!!
September 27th, 2009 at 12:40 pm
While I like Goldblum’s new role, I probably won’t be watching anymore if Vincent is gone. I’ve followed his career a long time, and he is a superb actor in anything he tries.
My fantasy is that the networks would update the old Perry Mason series and star Vincent as a new Perry Mason.
I hope he sees these notes and knows how much his fans will miss him!!
Say it isn’t so, Vincent!
September 27th, 2009 at 12:40 pm
What a huge mistake. The only reason I watch the show is because of D’Onofrio. Erbe as his partner is just perfect. I will not be watching the show once they are gone. Why ruin a good thing? Jeff Goldblum is not worth watching. Reading all the posts it looks like most people feel the same way. The show won’t be around for season 10. KEEP D’ONOFRIO!
September 27th, 2009 at 12:44 pm
whoever thought up this idea to change everyone on the show should leave vincent and eames are the show. There are three of your shows and I watch all of them but with my favorite changing I will only being watching two and Law and order criminal Intent won’t be one of them. why do you always change your actors in all the show I am surprised you still have all three-make that just two for me. I think these shows are some of the best until you start to mess with them.
September 27th, 2009 at 12:46 pm
I agree with the majority. Without Vincent and Kathryn , the show is over..sorry to see them go..big mistake..it was bad enough they had to share their time with Jeff and Chris..Now they will be gone. I can not believ it.
September 27th, 2009 at 12:47 pm
I am another echoing the sentiments of the rest….with D’Onofrio and Erbe gone, I’ll be gone. They are the only reason that I watch the show. Especially Vincent D’Onofrio. His portrayal of Goren was mesmerizing. I also have the DVDs….guess I’ll be watching them now. (Personally, I was upset when they added Noth and his partner. Things were fine with just Goren and Eames!)
September 27th, 2009 at 12:50 pm
My heart is broken. It has been for awhile since hearing that Vincent & Katherine were leaving. L&O CI was my favorite as well as the original L&O and SVU. If VD & KE do not come back I shall never watch CI again. No matter where I was I had to be home to watch it. It will never be the same. I feel like 99% of the other comments. They will trly be missed. Bad move is right.
September 27th, 2009 at 12:55 pm
WE ALSO AGREE THAT ONE OF THE BEST PROGRAMS IS CRIMINAL INTENT AND PRECISELY BECAUSE OF THE CHARACTER THAT “VINCENT” AND THE REST OF THE CAST PLAYS. THIS MAKES THE DIFFERENCE. WHAT A TERRIBLE SHAME THAT THESE DETAILS ARE NOT ANALYZED BETTER. WE DON’T THINK JEFF WILL BE AS POPULAR AS VINCENT AND THE REST. WE BELIEVE WE WON’T BE WATCHING THIS PROGRAM ANYMORE. SO SORRY, VERY SAD NEWS!
September 27th, 2009 at 1:02 pm
Bye, bye, I will be done watching.
September 27th, 2009 at 1:04 pm
If you have those three leave then it definately wont be the same. I have watched Jeff Goldblum and he is ok, but I dont like the partner, they should have picked someone else to play that roll. Try to get some more popular names on there and get some good scripts and I think it could be a good show again.
Vincent just seems to fit that roll. He is really good. I liked him in that Sherlock Holmes movie too. He just seems good in whatever roll he plays.
Sorry to see him go, hope he is still going to do more acting elsewhere, he has too much talent to have it wasted.
September 27th, 2009 at 1:04 pm
I definitely will NOT be watching this show any more without Vincent D’Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe. They MAKE the show what it is. The show will FAIL without them.
September 27th, 2009 at 1:07 pm
This L&O machinery has been chugging along for decades. Every time some popular character leaves, people get up in arms and say they’ll refuse to watch. They still watch, because the shows keep running. D’Onofrio was scaled back because he needed to be. He was suffering from exhaustion all the time, which is why Noth showed up in the first place. Honestly, I think Goren’s character has just gotten darker and weirder as time goes by. Of course D’Onofrio plays it well – he’s a great actor. But Goldblum was a breath of fresh air. I only watched his episodes this year and enjoyed the show so much more than I had the previous year. I love the re-runs from several years ago, but Goren just spiraled downward for me. So I do NOT agree that D’Onofrio IS Criminal Intent. I didn’t watch him at all this season, and I fell in love with the series all over again. Jeff Goldblum is a brilliant actor, and his character is fantastic.
September 27th, 2009 at 1:10 pm
I can not believe they would make those changes. Goldblum’s character is like watching another show. They should just cancel the show if they are going to fire the two main reason’s for watching.
September 27th, 2009 at 1:14 pm
Without the brillant and complex mind of Vincent D’Onofrio’s character, there is no reason to watch L&O.
J.G.’s character does not add to the enjoyment of the show.
Terrible move on the producers part.
September 27th, 2009 at 1:21 pm
You can’t do this to me! I love both D’Onofrio & K Erbe and their characters. Just another example of how bad TV is getting, I’ve been watching PBS and even taping some of the shows. At least I’ll have some quality TV, and not repeats of the same movies on LMN, Lifetime & Hallmark. This was one I looked forward to watching, even the reruns.
September 27th, 2009 at 1:22 pm
NO D’ONOFRIO AND EMES NO JOHN AND MARNA
September 27th, 2009 at 1:26 pm
Ditto to everything said above. Vincent and Kathrym MAKE THE SHOW. Without them I won’t bother tuning in. Very disappointed. Huge programing mistake…huge. I think Bobby Goren’s character is one of the most interesting and compelling on television today.
September 27th, 2009 at 1:31 pm
What is wrong with the producers??? without Vincent and Katherine there is no show. If the money people want a successful season do not scrap the best of the series.
September 27th, 2009 at 1:33 pm
While may persons may enjoy “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” with D’Onofrio, I for one dislike his character immensely. He was the primary reason that I stopped watching the series. In fact, many of my friends and I feel that it is a stroke of genius for Executive Producer Dick Wolf to implement some change and lighten the tone. While some viewers may leave, I suspect that the change will draw more viewers than it will lose. I for one will return to watching the show to see how the changes pan out…
September 27th, 2009 at 1:42 pm
I have always been a loyal fan of all three L & O’s but C.I. was really special thanks to D’Onofrio and Erbe who brought it to life. I will miss it but without them it will just die a slow and painful death.
September 27th, 2009 at 1:47 pm
Sorry folks but the best thing CSI: CI can and should be doing is getting rid of Vincent D’Onofrio. He’s has definitely gone over the edge and line and is getting close to in real life of totally mentally losing it. Maybe it’s time for him to take a deep breath, step back and re-group in his real life and world and take it from there.
September 27th, 2009 at 1:49 pm
I will not be watching CI with the new cast. I love it with Eames
and D’Onofrio. They really make the show great.
Renee
September 27th, 2009 at 1:49 pm
No Goren and Eames? No Show !! They made the show, no one can replace Vincent.. He is too good of an actor…Do you remember the episode where that detective’s daughter kidnapped Eames, and she escaped through the basement window? No better acting, I have watched for years…… Jeff Goldblum is not the actor you need, and as for Kathryn?? She cannot be replaced.. I will miss them both..
September 27th, 2009 at 1:49 pm
I can’t believe you are letting Vincent & his side kick Ebs, leave the show, they are the show, I will not watch with out them
September 27th, 2009 at 2:01 pm
If Vincent is gone so am I. Only good L&O.
September 27th, 2009 at 2:01 pm
I am a HUGE fan of this show. If Vincent D’Onofrio & Kathryn Erbe are gone then so am I!! They are the only reason anyone watches this show!! I don’t understand why they want another Monk when they already have one. Or better yet, make another show like Monk but leave D’Onofrio & Erbe alone. If they are leaving, they may as well take it off the air now because no one is going to watch it. Worst decision ever!
September 27th, 2009 at 2:04 pm
I hope Vincent is leaving under pleasant conditions…….I know he had a little bit of a medical “thing” a while back before they brought Chris in to share the load………I do wish Vincent the very best – he IS CRIMINAL INTENT!!!!!
September 27th, 2009 at 2:08 pm
Good idea! Get rid of all of them, and the music. This program is unwatchable, don’t know what Dick Wolf was thinking at the beginning. This is an insult to Law and Order.
September 27th, 2009 at 2:09 pm
Come on guys…it is all about budgets!!! Let us look at this from a budget stand point. L&O SVU stars received more money. So what brand within the L&O franchise is going to get cuts??? You guessed it CI!!! The network had to make difficult decisions and CI was the sacrifical lamb!!! If you want the show to stay and increase the ratings, the best proactive thing to do is watch the show and when ratings go up, ad reveune dollars then go to the show, which in turn bring back the beloved stars of the show. Give CI another chance!!
September 27th, 2009 at 2:14 pm
Goldblum hasn’t done anything worthwhile since “The Fly”. No Vincent and no Kathryn them NO SHOW! Worst decision in history of Law and Order and there have been a LOT of bad ones…
September 27th, 2009 at 2:27 pm
Oh my over-acting ass. D’onfrio seemed to think he was Marlon Brando with his attempt at method acting. The guy is a 5 star creep and a bundle of twitches; guess that was his idea of acting. He was playing a cop for crapsake not King Richard. I quit watching in the first season, because I couldn’t stand him. No loss there!
September 27th, 2009 at 2:35 pm
There is NO chance that I would EVER watch CI without Goren and Eames. I didn’t think it was possible to do anything dumber than killing off Nicole Wallace, but now this. The producers of this show are too STUPID to be out walking around.
September 27th, 2009 at 2:42 pm
Are they crazy? At my house, we would rather watch re-runs of Criminal Intent than some of these hopeless new shows on TV. Without these three real actors, there is no way that I will watch.
Vincent D’onofrio IS Criminal Intent and without him and Erbe, THER IS NO SHOW! Goodbye, Law and Order. Note: This is the first time ever that I have been concerned enough to write on-line about a TV show.
September 27th, 2009 at 2:49 pm
No D’Onofrio, no Erbe……..I’m NOT watching. Goldblum sucks.
September 27th, 2009 at 2:51 pm
I am sooooooo glad that so many people agree with me on how much they like D’Onofrio and Erbe…Let’s all hope and pray that they give us another showcase for their talents. I also hope that Vincent and Katherine know that they are not the losers and that they are LOVED. We will see more from them!!
September 27th, 2009 at 2:55 pm
Vincent D’Onofrio is the best actor on television, I can not understand why L&O would do this. Without him and Katherine Erb it will not be L&O:CI, it will be another poor excuse for a television show without actual actors.
September 27th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
Goren(D’Onofrio) and Eames(Erbe) are LOCI so without them their goes the show and their goes I. Sorry Mr. Wolf, you and USA making a “HUGH” mistake.
September 27th, 2009 at 2:59 pm
Everyone is right if you phase they three out the show is pretty much over I won’t watch it anymore neither will anyone else I know we say they make the show
September 27th, 2009 at 3:01 pm
I have watched this Law and Order from the beginning, my favorite and almost all of the reruns just to watch these two, if Gorn & Eames go I huess I will too. The other two L&O’s are ok and I usally watch them on reruns over the summer but this show I wait for and don’t miss an episode. Goldblum is ok but no D’Onofrio, USA you need to re-think this.
September 27th, 2009 at 3:04 pm
Vincent D’nofrio is the sun that all other characters revolve around and together make a great ensemble on Criminal Intent. I have been a fan of Vincent D. since he did Mystic Pizza/Full Metal Jacket/Feeling Minnesota and on and on. Hope to see him in films or cable again. Thanks for all the great episodes. Wish them all the best. Going to miss you Vincent!
September 27th, 2009 at 3:04 pm
I look forward to see Vincent & Erbe. Yes, he is a little wierd but so am I. They have to try to keep both of these actors on L & O CI. I have been a fan of Erbe since HBO Oz. NBC is making horrible moves lately. Between taking off the 5:00 NYC News, putting Jay Leno on @ 10:00PM & now this, they are going to go the way of Fox a few years back.
September 27th, 2009 at 3:08 pm
Oh no! I love Vincent. I have been watching all the marathons on USA and I can just keep watching him for hours. He is the show. No Vincent, no watch. Bye bye Law and Order.
September 27th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
Who in the hell are they kidding? Vincent & Kathryn MADE that show! There will be so much fan loss that they will be SO SORRY that they even started this every other week CRAP with Vincent! And now to cut them:(
Goldblum DOES NOT even compare to Vincent, he is like a “stepford wife”……
It’s OK “BOBBY”, I will still be looking for you out there AND will NEVER watch CI if you are not in it!!!!!
YOU GUYS ARE MAKING A BIG MISTAKE——-BETTER THINK TWICE IF YOU GREEDY JERKS WANT YOUR MONEY!!!
Oh Bobby, Bobby, where art thow Bobby:(
September 27th, 2009 at 3:18 pm
Guess this will be the end of CI for me. Jeff is okay, but Vincent IS the show.
September 27th, 2009 at 3:19 pm
We already record the shows so we can delete without watching all the shows that do not feature D’Onofrio and Erbe. Guess we will be down to watching Criminal Intent and Cold Case, since Without a Trace has been cancelled and the only thing that saves CI from the mundane is the unique way D’Onofrio and Erbe solve the cases. We refuse to watch any reality shows. Thank goodness of Netflicks or we would no longer be needing a television.
September 27th, 2009 at 3:21 pm
No Vincent, no me. I love Vincent D’Onofrio’s character and he’s the best of all in the Law and Order entries.
September 27th, 2009 at 3:26 pm
Okay, this really upsets me. We have watched both L&O’s since they began. Take off D’Onofrio, Erbe, and Bogosian I am gone. Take off anyone of them and I am still gone. Did not like Jeff Goldblume when he first came on and still don’t. No one can replace D’Onofrio, Erbe or Bobosian.
September 27th, 2009 at 3:31 pm
VD & Erbe “make” the show! I love the complexity of the character played by VD, intense, complicated, fascinating & sooooo brillant. Erbe is the perfect balance for VD & completes the team. I will no longer watch CI if these two are not in the show. I’ve been a big fan for years but, no VD & Erbe, it’s adios for me.
September 27th, 2009 at 3:34 pm
THIS IS THE WORST NEWS I’VE HEARD IN FOREVER U GET RID OF VINCENT THERE WILL BE NO SHOW. LAW AND ORDER CI WILL NEVER MAKE IT.
September 27th, 2009 at 3:35 pm
Without Vincent and Erbe there is NO SHOW! JEFF GOLDBLUM SEEMS TO BE RUNNING EVERYTHING AT THE NETWORK – NO VINCENT -I AM OUT OF THERE! Jeff Goldblum sucks – he is good at other things BUT NOT THIS SHOW – WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU GET RID OF THE 2 PEOPLE WHO MADE THE SHOW – by the way, I did not like Chris Noth either.
September 27th, 2009 at 3:40 pm
I stopped watching on the days Vincent D’Onofrio & Kathyryn Erbe weren’t on. Goren & Eames ARE the show. Didn’t care for Noth much, don’t like Bogosian in the role and am not impressed with Goldblum! So, I guess I will not watch at all once Vincent leaves!
September 27th, 2009 at 3:44 pm
I have watched Law And Order for years, and Vincents character is the reason millions of people watch this show. Without him the show will die. It has happened to alot of other tv shows when they change character.
September 27th, 2009 at 3:47 pm
JEFF GOLDBLUM…ISN’T HE A MOVIE STAR?AKA THE FLY!I CAN’T TAKE THIS SHOW SERIOUSLY WITHOUTVINCENT D’ONOFRIO AND ERBE….IT’S RIDICULOUS,THEY SHOULD DO US ALL A FAVOR AND OFFICIALLY CANCEL THE SHOW.I WOULD RATHER WATCH THE RERUNS.USA NETWOK SUCKS.
September 27th, 2009 at 3:48 pm
I think it will be a loss for all 3 actors (D’Anofrie,Erbe and Bogosian) to leave, however I think some corrective action is in order.
Why is Vincent such a SLOB these days? He needs a hircut, a shave(badly) and some clean and pressed clothes.
For a long time Erbe has needed the help of a hair stylist. Her hair is always in her mouth or her eyes. Very distracting.
Leave Bogosian the way he is…and thats great!
September 27th, 2009 at 3:49 pm
I don’t see why they feel they have to make changes to the show.
I absolutely love Jeff Goldblum’s character. I like his subtle nuances
and dry sense of humor. But I think they all work well together.
I like the ’70’s curly perm thing Eric Bogosian has going on. If you ever really listen to him in his scenes he says the funniest things.
This show is SO smart. Leave it alone. But good thing for Jeff Goldblum!
September 27th, 2009 at 3:49 pm
I can’t say anything original on top of what’s already been said, but count me as another one who probably won’t watch the new show without D’Onofrio and Erbe. They ARE the show, plain and simple. It’s been my favorite show for years. I can’t believe this is someone’s intelligent decision. I’ve watched one Monk show. I chose not to watch any more. Big mistake USA/Wolf.
September 27th, 2009 at 3:49 pm
D’Onofrio is the ONLY reason I watch the show!
September 27th, 2009 at 3:51 pm
I agree… Jeff goldblum is interesting & I enjoy his episodes just not as much as Vincent and Katherine and sadly, when they leave, I will no longer watch the show. I look forward to seeing them act elsewhere as they have both done a fantastic job making “Goren and Eames” feel real but I don’t see jeff. still being new, being able to carry the show on his own accord… he just doesn’t have the fan base yet.
September 27th, 2009 at 3:52 pm
I also can’t imagine Law&Order-CI without D’Onofrio and Erbe. I don’t particularly like Goldblum’s clever wit and “horse trot” (has anyone else watched him walk)? I’m not cutting up Goldblum, really, but he CANNOT EVER replace D’Onfrio, who has a certain darkness that is addictive.
September 27th, 2009 at 3:55 pm
The more I think about this, the more upset I feel. Goran and Eames are my favorite characters of all of them, and it won’t be the same without them. L&O is seriously messing up something that has worked for many years, and I HOPE they’re really sorry for it. Really stupid to try and fix something that is definitely not broke.
September 27th, 2009 at 3:56 pm
It will not be the same. I have noticed the difference since USA took over, but without Goren and Ames… no way!!!!!!
September 27th, 2009 at 4:00 pm
No way….no Goren…no Ames… No CI
September 27th, 2009 at 4:09 pm
All of you are a bunch of cry babies and you will end up watching the show~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!!!!!
September 27th, 2009 at 4:13 pm
D’Onofrio,Erbe gone! are you crazy? I watch them, not the rest of the show. Big mistake. Goldblum has made some good movies in his time. However, he will never replace Bobby and he will never come close to competing with Monk’s reruns, let alone be compared to Monk as an equal. Why is it TV executives can’t be happy with success? Are they jealous or just tremendously insecure or both?
September 27th, 2009 at 4:15 pm
I will stop watching as well. During the time they started alternating the partners, I would first look to the opening credits and if Goren and Eames were not in them, I wouldn’t bother to watch. Now with them gone permanently, there will be no reason to watch. D’onofrio is unique and really made the show.
Lorraine
September 27th, 2009 at 4:16 pm
Vincent D’Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, and Eric Bogosian are the only reason I watch the show to begin with! I’m sorry all you Goldblum fans but he is like a square peg in a round hole. I have watched him on the show but it just isn’t believable. What a big, big mistake that USA is making, or one of the big mistakes. Taking Monk off the air is another stupid mistake USA is making. Yep little by little USA network has elimated any reason for watching their network, they might as well sell out, or have they already!?
September 27th, 2009 at 4:48 pm
I am also a loyal L&O CI fan, but only because of D’Onofrio and Erbe. They leave, and I leave….you want to make it lighter, bring more humor that Goren and Eames sometimes share, but in my opinion, without them, there is no show….
September 27th, 2009 at 5:03 pm
If vince is gone I hate two say it but I my criminal intent parties that consist of 20 of us sitting in my game room all watching and guessins what Gorm and eames will do next is all done and over. I think it is a big mistake on the producers side on getting rid of either of the two and as far as jeff coming on every other week. when gorm and eams were not the detectives in play we rented a movie. Hate to see you go my Man been in love with your character since the first time We layed eyes on you and of course eames. BYE BYE criminal intent… shoot now we need to find a show to replace you so we can still have our weekly get together.
September 27th, 2009 at 5:16 pm
I have been watching since the first season with Goren and eames and I will tell you rite now there is no criminal intent with out these two superior actors there characters arewhat make this show work just like benson and stabler make SVU what it is. The producers really do not have the brain capacity to understand the amount of viewers they are going to loose. please dont insult me with a cameo now and then. at least now these two fine actors can move on and showcase their talents. you have definately lost this loyal viewer, oh my my daughter is going to go crazy when I tell her she loves Goren and Eames
September 27th, 2009 at 6:48 pm
D’Onofrio and Erbe fans are organizing The Campaign to Save Goren & Eames by directing those upset with the budget-cutting decisions to tell NBCU senior executives directly how expensive these moves will turn out to be. E-mail bonnie.hammer@nbcuni.com and jeff.gaspin@nbcuni.com Also contact Senior VP of Network Publicity jean.guerin@nbcuni.com For the best results keep messages short, polite, focused, simple, clean. But let them know that VDO and Erbe are irreplaceable. Make them understand how much public bad will these firings are bringing to USA network and all of its shows.
September 27th, 2009 at 6:54 pm
WHAT could USA be thinking?? CI will never make it without them! Congratulations USA, you just managed to kill a Law and Order series (and that’s not easy to do) PLUS lose about 90% of your fans all in one day! You must be SO proud!!!! All because you want the stockholders to get bigger profits by taking money away from the actors? How will your stockholders feel when they have NO PROFITS AT ALL because USA takned the show? You should give Vincent and Kathryn whatever money they ask for, THEY’RE WORTH EVERY PENNY TO EVERY FAN OUT THERE!
September 27th, 2009 at 8:02 pm
Who makes these decisions, have they all gone mad? D’Onofrio is the best of the best of all L&O actors. And, CI is the best of all the L&O’s. If Bobby’s outta here, so am I.
September 27th, 2009 at 8:16 pm
This series has been disintegrating since Vincent D’Onofrio and Katherine Erbe ceased being the only detectives. The introduction of Jeff Goldblum’s character has changed the show. It is no longer an intriguing program about police work, but a program about a very strange police officer. While D’Onofrio could portray a slightly eccentric yet brilliant detective, Goldblum’s character seems to be a very eccentric person who by a strange twist of fate is a detective. I will not be watching the program once D’Onofrio and Erbe are no longer in the cast.
September 27th, 2009 at 11:28 pm
I guess if “lighter fare” means learning your dad’s a serial killer, and going undercover in a mental prison to be denied food & water. Total joke. But USA butchered the character so much it’s not that sad to me. I, too, won’t be watching any longer. Maybe Donofrio can breathe some life in to the Dexter series now.
September 28th, 2009 at 6:05 am
By far Julianne Nicholson was my favorite on CI, with Chris Noth as her partner. Jeff is OK. As far as the other two. . . the net is right, a chnage is/was needed.
September 28th, 2009 at 11:17 am
[...] on in the new season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent this spring on USA is Jeff Goldblum. At least that’s what reports last week said. Well, Vincent D’Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe will appear in a two-part episode to open the [...]
September 28th, 2009 at 11:42 am
I agree – without D’Onofrio & Erbe, there IS no Law & Order CI. By removing those actors & the great characters they portray, they’ve given my favorite show the kiss of death.
September 28th, 2009 at 1:13 pm
The show can’t survive if D’Onofrio and Erbe leave. I was never a big fan of the other detectives, but I quit watching their episodes for good right after Jeff Goldblum arrived. I just can’t stand his character, and now I guess it’s no more Criminal Intent at all for me after Goren&Eames leave.
September 28th, 2009 at 2:35 pm
The reason I love Ci is because of Vincent D’Onofrio. You will be making a huge mistake if you let him go. He is a wonderful actor.
September 28th, 2009 at 2:41 pm
stick a fork in it….done
September 28th, 2009 at 9:19 pm
Once the season premiere airs, I’m gone and I will never tune into USA Network again. We have started a HUGE writing campaign in hopes that TPTB will understand the ratings suicide they have committed by kicking Vincent, Katie and Eric to the curb. Show the love and write or email your letters!
September 28th, 2009 at 10:19 pm
Count me out as a viewer if D’Onofrio and Erbe go. Like many of the other commenters, they are the only reason why I watch the show.
September 30th, 2009 at 1:41 am
No D’Onofrio, no watch.
September 30th, 2009 at 9:42 am
What a shame to have lost D’onofrio and Erbe. They were the whole show. Yes this past season was boring, but Vincent is the man!!!!
Will miss watching the show. I will watch L&O SVU instead.
September 30th, 2009 at 2:16 pm
Es una pena sin D’onofrio y Erbe L.O.C.I no existe aunque esta gente se niegue a verlo es asi. Sinceramente miro le serie por estos personajes principalmente por D’onofrio, espero que lo reconsideren y sigan en la serie.
September 30th, 2009 at 3:25 pm
October 1st, 2009 at 6:52 am
They lost me – Without D’Onofrio and Erbe – I won’t be watching. Goldblum is a joke.
October 1st, 2009 at 9:38 am
I live in the UK. Stop watching at season 6 as the show got dumbed down in an attempt to gain mass appeal. The plots got predictable and the episode 13 called Albatross lived up to its name. With the magic gun that did not exist and Goren stating the bleeding obvious seemed out of character. The episode Rocket Man killed it for me. Will not waste my time with season 7 if it comes out here.
October 5th, 2009 at 11:14 am
I, for one, am delighted for D’Ornofrio and Erbe who have been aching to get off the show so they can do more movies. Is no one aware that it was Vincent who SUGGESTED Jeff Goldblum to replace him? Sure Goren and Eames were wonderful; but give them a chance to further their careers and be happy.

Far too many changes going on in this show. I only watched the episodes with Goren and Eames until Julianne Nicholson came along -now she is going to leave as well. If D’Onofrio and Erbe leave, then I won’t be watching either, they are the show.
October 7th, 2009 at 9:59 am
Without D’Onofrio and Erbe and Bogosian the show would be not as exciting to me because i love all the character on the show it would be not the same without them please don’t let them go let them come back to the show
October 7th, 2009 at 11:54 pm
If you want quirkiness go watch MONK, PSYCH, UGLY BETTY… Law and Order: CI is not about quirkiness… it’s a cop show about homicides. Goldblum will just sink this show till it gets canceled. Watched one episode with his character… found nothing amusing, funny, or quirky. His character has no depth. Goren’s dark humor was amusing and fun to watch. If Vincent D’Onofrio does not want to reprise his role just end the show. Any other version of Law and Order: CI would be disastrous and stupid.
October 8th, 2009 at 12:06 am
Zach Nichols (Goldblum) is condescending and his smirks are awkward and creepy… seriously not quirky at all… just really annoying.
October 8th, 2009 at 3:27 pm
I love Vincent D’Ofrio!!!!!!!
He is the only real man left on television. I love him for turning grey and gaining weight. He is big and strong and bold and fulfills many of my dirtiest sexual fantasies, and I don’t mean being rescued by a white knight. I am tired of seeing actors and actresses with dyed hair and cut up faces.
Without Goren and Eames I have no reason to watch CI.
October 8th, 2009 at 11:56 pm
I’m from Switzerland and consider CI with D’Onofrio and Erbe one of the best tv-series of that kind. Without these two characters the show won’t be able to keep the niveau it has. There are enough other “lighter” shows around – one more isn’t really necessary. Please reconsider that decision as it is a huge mistake, ’cause the quality can only go down the drains without them.
October 11th, 2009 at 11:28 am
I’ll stick to the reruns. I became emotionally attached to Goren. I wanted to protect him from hurt and harm. Good luck with “bonding”
the new cast with its viewers.
October 11th, 2009 at 4:06 pm
The show has gone downhill in the last few seasons and D’Onofrio is probably just sick of doing it. Of course he wants to move on to do other projects. He gave L&O:CI a long run. I’m sure that USA and Dick Wolf knew that he wanted to leave some time ago, and weren’t going to be able squeeze another contract out of him. USA is now trying to make the best of the new ‘lighter’ fare with Goldblum. Good luck with that. I won’t be watching.
October 13th, 2009 at 2:58 pm
What a sad day, to learn that Vincent D’Onofrio and Erbe are out the door and they are writing their final exits. It was the one L&O series I was dedicated to…..well, dedicated to Goren. This was an amazing character D’Onofrio created.
Goldblum has his positives, but they are not enough to keep me watching the show.
October 18th, 2009 at 3:25 pm
you let the original team go? seriously? biggest fail ever. you can clearly see how many fans youre losing. good job. and to think you could try and replace goren with ‘BIG’, reallllyy? that worked out well. and gold, blows. looks fake, tries too hard, isnt in tune. i almost hope CI gets cxled asap just so i dont have to see his face when im really hoping for an old rerun. ugh.
October 18th, 2009 at 11:52 pm
Jeff Goldblum sucks. Really, he does. I find his whole character annoying. He is not funny. I just despise his character. I will not watch Criminal Intent without Erbe and D’Onofrio. Those two made the show. At least they are not killing Goren off. The show was truly flat this year. The episodes with Nichols {Goldblum} dragged by. There was no action. No one cares about his piano playing. Goren was sexy with grey hair and a belly. I think they are truly killing the good shows on TV. I will stick to the reruns.
October 19th, 2009 at 9:56 am
No Goren & Eames = No show. It just won’t be the same. No offense to Goldblum but the chemistry and quirkiness was what made the show. I think this has been a long time coming, esp since all of Goren’s family are gone. The intro of his other family he visited and esp the reference to his niece Molly made me wonder if something was wrong but never expected this to happen.
October 19th, 2009 at 7:26 pm
Okay, listen up Wolfie, if you allow Vincent to leave you will lose the whole population of viewers. Goldblum is a clown and has past his prime and never could act, period. the same old expressions in every movie he’s appeared in the past twenty years. I’m gone if I don’t see Vincent this season. There’s plenty of cable shows to watch that are not afraid to push the envelope. Just close up shop on this one the other shows will have to continue to put money in your pocket for now anyway but it will not last forever.
October 20th, 2009 at 6:43 am
I will miss D’Onofrio and Erbe (Esp Erbe) ,I think Kathryn wanted more backstory for her part as detective Eames which the writers gave her in part when they wrote the story on her husband’s partner murder. However I belive she wanted more which she would not get once the show moved to another channel.
However she might have had a sense that changes were coming as she has recently had a part in a movie and might be loooking to move on from L.O. CI once she realised that D’Onofrio wanted to leave.(I can’t see her partner with Jeff Goldblum).
however as some else has commented I wish them both good luck on their upcoming projects as I suspect that they both want to carry on with their movie careers (Erbe’s part in Stir of Echoes showed her potential)
I might watch a few episodes of the new season but I cannot ‘connect’ with Jeff Goldblum even with his movies I could not understand the characters he played.
Good luck to D’onofrio, Erbe and Jamey Sheridan (who left a few seasons ago)
October 20th, 2009 at 4:14 pm
I will not be watching law and Order Criminal Intent without Vincent D’ Onofrio or Kathryn Erbe they made the show without them the show is useless Jeff Goldblum does not belong on law and Order eh does not fit the show. Once the original characters are off I will not be watching it anymore they just lost a viewer
October 21st, 2009 at 10:22 am
Jeff Goldbum is okay but at times he has that dumb look and scary eyes, maybe they are tyring to potray him better than Vincent D’onofrio but its not working..I m going to miss Goren and stop watching Law and Order: CI…
October 21st, 2009 at 11:01 am
is this a money issue
October 21st, 2009 at 6:26 pm
Like all of the previous email comments, I am also surprised that the main characters are being replaced. Vincent added an interesting personality to his character, unlike other cop shows, especially when interogating the accused. They might as well change the name of the show..Goldblum does nothing for me, and frankly, makes me root for the bad guy. Dick Wolf, are you listening?
October 22nd, 2009 at 12:39 pm
I only watch the Vincent D’ Onofrio episodes! Are they nuts?
October 23rd, 2009 at 4:03 pm
I remember that Vincent D’Onofrio said at one point that he would go 6 seasons. Well, he went 7! I am really going to miss him and Erbe, but look forward to seeing how the new characters work out. I have long been a fan of Jeff, and if his material is right, and the chemistry is right, it should be a blast! Humor mixed with drama makes an interesting combination. I just hope that the scripts are better written than last years selection, some of which really stunk!
The original Law and Order has changed cast over the years, and has done well. Criminal Intent will be a different show for sure, but I will miss the old series.
Hopefully, they will release season 4, 5 and 6 on DVD- for us old school folks who like a hard copy in their hands!!
October 25th, 2009 at 11:27 am
[...] “Criminal Intent?” According to The Hollywood Reporter, all three will exit during the upcoming ninth season. (Yes, it’s been that long. But really, [...]
October 25th, 2009 at 3:53 pm
I agree without Vincent and Erbe, the show is not worth watching. CI with those 2 characters is dynamic and just fun to watch. I’ve watched ONE show with Goldbloom just to see and it was BORING, BORING, BORING, plus he’s not even nice to look at. D’Anofrio is still handsome, even with his weight gain. WE LOVE HIM!DICK WOLF,PLEASE RETHINK THIS DECISION!
October 25th, 2009 at 8:54 pm
I was going to write something about being outraged, but then realized I haven’t regularly watched this show for over a year. I don’t think Goldblum is a good idea, though. Might as well kill CI and make a new Monk like show for him. CI’s storylines just seem like too much for his acting style.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:32 am
I too like D’Nofrio and Erbe best. However, I also liked it when Chris Noth was there. I preferred Sheridan over Bogosian. I also agree that there could be nothing “light” about major crimes. As for Monk, they are two totally different shows. I LOVE Monk. I also really enjoyed USA’s new show White Collar. I do wish D’Nofrio would stay.
October 26th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
With all of the amazingly stupid reality shows we are subjected to, a decision like this, to replace Vincent D’Onofrio is astoundingly stupid. What’s left for those of us who like to watch a well crafted show?
This is what happens when you let brain-dead executives make decisions. Vincent’s character is what carries this show, without it there is no show worth watching.
I suppose when the series gets canceled the executives will realize how their decision played a major part, but that is probably wishful thinking on my part. Worse still, it will probably be replaced with another disgusting reality show.
There isn’t much out there now that is worth turning on the TV for, which is why mine is turned off 95% of the time.
Well crafted TV series seem to be a relic of days gone by.
October 28th, 2009 at 4:44 am
If D’Onofrio and Erbe are not on the show anymore, I am not going to watch! They simply can’t do that with the originals, the show will die. That’s what happened to Hunter, starring Fred Dryer and Stepfanie Kramer.
NO GOREN, NO EAMES, NO ME. Sorry, but that is the way it is!!!
October 28th, 2009 at 6:47 am
I’m with most of the other commenters here: D’Onofrio & Erbe make the show. I miss it on NBC, because I never know when it’s on, but catch it when I can. Without them, I won’t bother. I can’t even watch Goldblum, his D’Onofrio knock-off character is irritating and ridiculous. The young model/actresses they put with him are also completely unbelievable as homicide detectives. Bad move.
October 28th, 2009 at 12:36 pm
What the hell is wrong with these idiots? I give the Goren/Eames-less LOCI half a season at most.
October 29th, 2009 at 1:36 am
I hope these replies, along with those at all the other places getting signatures, make it somehow to the directors of this show. If D’Onofrio goes, I goes! I also don’t want Kathryn to leave, but without Vincent/Bobby it simpy won’t work anymore. They MADE this show! What is needed is to get some good writers and give D’Onofrio something to sink his delectable teeth into! Tha man is phenominal and Goldblum don’t even come close. Thousands of CI fans are in an uproar over this. It is a MAJOR mistake. I won’t just stop waching CI; I’ll stop watching USA. I don’t LIKE thier ‘lighter fare’. I was mad enough when they moved the show over there from NBC. Then they took episodes away from Goren and Eames, now they spit Goldblum at us and say, ‘Out with your Goren’! VERY stupid mistake! He’s gone; I’m gone! WAKE UP USA!!!
October 30th, 2009 at 10:42 am
Big mistake, D’Onofrio is a great actor and the one who made Law and Order CI a big sucess. If he is gone you will loose me as a fan of the show. Your ratings are going to drop as a rock. Bad Idea not having D’Onofrio on the show. Is this happen I am not going to see it anymore.
October 30th, 2009 at 2:04 pm
Saddened to hear this. Goren (vincent) and Eames (katherine) are amazing! Although I also like SVU, always preferred criminal intent.
The producers should support Vincent even if he is only available for 8-10 episodes. WORK WITH HIM Mr. Wolf.
Have not been impressed with Jeff Goldblum. Had their never been goren and eames I may have liked it a little more but their is no comparison.
Monk is also in a league of his own…love him and will miss him but this last season has lost its spark as Shaloubie was tired of it.
Would hate to see Criminal Intent decline.
November 1st, 2009 at 10:43 am
Have the DVDs. Watch at least one show a day. CI has been a must watch since it started. All because of the marvelous acting of Vincent.I will not watch now that he is gone. This was the only really fine show on TV that I have watched for years. Now it will be just the news. Vincent is the finest actor that I have watched in years. Thanks Vincent for the wonderful run. Good luck in the future. Job WELL DONE! God bless you.
November 2nd, 2009 at 9:16 am
Since they are running a split season, I don’t see how this can last past the first 8 episodes. A complete cast change and either Eames or Ross being killed in the first episode of the season will leave a bad taste in the mouth of all fans. VDO & KE would have stayed another season. It’s as if they are intentionally running this show into the ground and I don’t understand why they would want to do this.
November 2nd, 2009 at 5:33 pm
Just had to write again. I’m going to miss these two. Some one said Goren ’s character had got to dark, well you must have not been watching the show. He can on with problems, that’s what made him a great cop. If the show continued to get darker then it was up to the writer to pull him out of it. Those of us who watched, understood him and loved him and so did his partner. Some one said earlier he would make a good Perry Mason.YES. With Eames as his Della.
November 3rd, 2009 at 3:30 pm
Hey guys, reality check… I was, afterall, a “television” show; not reality. LOCI took us to wonderful places, psychologically; a place I’ll never forget. But, Vincent is older, heavier and losing his hair. He, above all, knows you can only sustain and furious in this industry for only so long. I know. I almost certain Vincent wants to enjoy the fruits of his LOCI labors. Afterall, what’s it’s been now…9…10 years on the air. Vincent’s got a wife, 3 kids, a film festival that needs attention; a restaurant; an acting school and probably countless relatives who are treading water in this economy. Oh, yea, of course I won’t be watching LOCI either because, to me, Vincent WAS the show. If only somehow he could see my comment here and know that with Jehovah, and Jehovah only, does he have a chance; like all of us, to be FOREVER the man he was in “Desire”/”Salt on Our Skin” or “The Whole Wide World.” May Jehovah bless you, Vincent, you’ve made my night warm and tender and full of hope. And to Dick Wolf, thanks a bunch for giving so many actors a chance to ply their craft and make a little dough. Love you, former Second City actress, Rocsan…
November 4th, 2009 at 5:59 pm
BIG BIG mistake. I’ve watched Goldblum and he doesn’t cut it at all. Doesn’t bring lightness or humor — just zones out — totally unbelievable and frankly irritating. I love the complexity of Goren and Eames relationship. It used to be a FANTASTIC show. No more, I just can’t watch it — it makes me grind my teeth.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:16 am
They lost me as a viewer when Jeff (”I never met an acting tic I didn’t like”)Goldblum joined up. He’s almost as annoying as Elisabeth Boehm was. The casting director is one taco short of a combo plate.
November 6th, 2009 at 8:10 am
It’s a sad day when Goldblum is replacing Vincent and Kathryn in LOCI. Goldblum is uninteresting, boring and not a fit to the characters of this show. I never saw any Criminal Intent as boring until Goldblum. Dick Wolf, don’t you get it. I’m sure many loyal viewers feel the same. Not one show Goldblum so called acted in, was interesting. Vincent, Kathryn,Eric, Chris and Julianne, were Law and Order Criminal Intent. Change the name if they’re no longer on the show. I will not participate in such garbage.
November 7th, 2009 at 8:06 pm
No Vinnie, thin or fat, no more watcheeeeeeeeeeeeee!
November 7th, 2009 at 10:00 pm
I am so sorry to hear Vincent will not be in Criminal Intent’s 9th season. The only reason I watch CI is to see Vincent! He is CI and losing him, you will lose alot of viewers, like me. Real shame!
November 13th, 2009 at 7:26 pm
vincent and kathryn make criminal intent. i love to watch them . i will stop watching this show if they arent on it goren and ames are what makes this show the other two actors are ok but they will never be as great as vincent and katheryn please reconsider kicking to the curb like they say if it aint broke dont fix it
November 16th, 2009 at 10:18 pm
I plan my time around when law and order ci is starting a new season. I love this show! This show is not worth watching with out Goren and Eames or the captain. I guess I’ll be sticking to the re runs.
November 18th, 2009 at 1:00 pm
I am SO upset to hear that Goren and Eames are being “written out” of my favorite show!!! This is a HUGE mistake as the only reason most of not all of us watch the show is because of Goren and Eames!!!! I really don’t care about the Captain leaving…he’s a jerk and he can’t hold a candle to Deakins!! I WANT THE ORIGINAL CAST BACK!!!!!
November 18th, 2009 at 9:44 pm
The only criminal intent we have here is Dick Wolf’s in getting rid of D’Onofrio.
November 20th, 2009 at 3:45 pm
while I LOVE Jeff Goldblum, i feel like the writing on his episodes has been uneven and the shows a little light in substance and interest…..can’t imagine L&O criminal intent without Goren and Eames although with them killing off the mom, brother and Nicole Wallace, there’s no longer any interesting backstory for Goren’s character, unless they finally give him a love interest who was co-dependent or in some other way psychologically unbalanced….oh weill I will tune in to see if the writing improves with JG at the helm….I actually liked his character on “Raines” better than L&O but I will give Dick Wolf a chance…not one to abandon the franchise at this point and I hate CSI…..and unlike most of you I like Jeff Goldblum’s quirky acting immensely, and he’s aged extremely well so I will get my eye orgasm on even if the story writing is lame….the franchise needs a more intriguing co-star and how about some grittier storylines…..’sigh’
November 20th, 2009 at 8:34 pm
Without D’onofrio and Erbe it just won’t be the show so many of us came to love. May as well pack it up. I am also a huge Monk fan and will miss the show but to try to remake CI into something ‘light’ is total stupidity. They will see a huge drop in viewership as soon as the two of them are gone. Sounds more like they want to cut costs…dumb, dumb, dumb…what a shame to ruin a great concept and great characters. The network should read this post and the rethink their crazy plans. Might as well just create a new show than try to remake this one.
November 22nd, 2009 at 4:25 am
I am utterly APPALLED by this moronic decision!! How can USA do this?! How can they just decide to give the show to someone who’s only been around for one season? Goldblum or not, he will never be as good as Vincent and Kathryn! D’Onofrio is the reason it became so damn popular!! Erbe is a thrill to watch!! Together they made the show what it is! How can they suddenly not be right for it and Goldblum be perfect??? They’ve been here from the start and it’s done great!!! It’s because of THEM!! And now? Criminal Intent without Goren and Eames?? That’s insulting!! They are the HEART of the show! The FACE of the show! No, they ARE the show! They’re the ONLY reason I watch! I seethed when they started the whole A & B crap because that meant I had to wait the following week to catch the pair! I only watch the episodes with Goren & Eames in them! Removing them is just shy of SVU without Benson & Stabler! If they go through with this, I personally hope it tanks. That’ll show them! I for one, DO NOT plan on watching the show without Goren & Eames!!! USA, you SUCK!!!
November 23rd, 2009 at 2:35 pm
I THink It IS A Huge Mistake On USA’s Decision or WHoever Made The Choice. Goren And Eames Are THE BEST Characters For The Show. If You Ask Me, I Think You Should GO Back To Having JUST GOREN AND EAMES and Ditch The Other Detectives. I Think Having Two Sets Of Detectives Is Too Much For The SHow Anyway. SO KEEP GOREN AND EAMES AND CUT THE OTHER. THAT WAY YOU’LL SAVE SOME MONEY AND STILL BE ABLE TO KEEP THE BEST ACTORS ON THE SHOW.
November 23rd, 2009 at 10:20 pm
I seem to be in the minority but I can’t stand Vincent D’Onofrio. He just drives me crazy with the weird bending over that he does and I’m looking forward to seeing Jeff Goldblum on the show.
November 27th, 2009 at 9:08 am
Vincent D’Onofrio is the reason I started watching L&OCI. I fell in love with the “quirky” detective. The show will not be the same without him I know. I am thankfull for the show to have picked such a great actor for the role he played. I understand when your in show buisness things will change. “It’s not like we will never see him again you all, he will still be making movies.”
I give all the thank you’s to Dick Wolf for the master mind behind it all.
November 30th, 2009 at 11:16 am
I enjoyed watching Kathryn Erbe’s Eames play off Jeff Goldlbum’s character. I wish that she were staying as that would make a really quirky pairing and give her more than she’s been allowed to do with Vincent.
It took me a long time to enjoy Ross as a new character, but now I’m sorry to see Eric go, too.
I don’t think Julianne Nicholson is right for the part, and I know she’s pregnant. (She’s a very good actress; I’e seen her in other roles.) It will be interesting to see who will partner Jeff Goldblum.
I love the show and will certainly give the new episodes a tryout.

December 1st, 2009 at 12:21 pm
why will anyone stop watching law and order when goren and eames leave when benson and stabler will still be on law and order svu
December 4th, 2009 at 9:14 am
I refuse to watch without D’Onofrio and Erbe. They are my favorites. If they leave, so do I
December 4th, 2009 at 6:53 pm
What’s the point of the show without Goren and Eames? I don’t understand why USA doesn’t just save some money and pack it up. No one will freaking watch it.
December 5th, 2009 at 9:06 pm
If they are not there, neither am I. They make the show. Goldblum was a TERRIBLE choice to start with. Kiss your audience goodbye!
December 6th, 2009 at 3:31 pm
Law and Order CI is just another Law ad Order with out Vincent D’Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, and Eric Bogosian. Take a clue from their fans and keep them on the show.
December 10th, 2009 at 10:13 am
I like many of the loyal CI fans are truly devasted to hear that D’Onofrio and Erbe are leaving. This makes no sense…they are the original cast. How can you get rid of them and expect for the show to thrive. They are the reason that I have come to love the show. I am not sure if I will be watching the new season when it airs. They should just cancel the show because it will not be the same.
December 11th, 2009 at 10:54 am
Erbe, D’Onofrio, and Bogosian MAKE that show. I won’t watch. This will be the second Law & Order spin-off to bite the dust.
I love D’Onofrio, but I have to say that Kathryn Erbe has more than held her own as Eames against D’Onofrio’s quirky, dark, and troubled Goran. Eames is a strong and smart character and one of the few female cops on television who looks like she might be a cop.
I won’t be watching if they go through with this.
December 11th, 2009 at 6:43 pm
Can’t stop VDO from wanting more time to do movie projects, but this will kill the series. L&O CI is ROBERT GOREN, without him and Eames it is pointless. This is like Mark Harmon leaving NCIS, that show would die too. Hopefully VDO will change his mind and guest star often but he has to bring KE back with him. Why not make 4 or 5 two-parters a year starring them, they’d kill in the ratings. Or make a series of L&O CI movies, to VDO and KE can get paid what they deserve.
December 17th, 2009 at 4:44 am
I’m sorry to see Bogosian leave, because I really like his character. I didn’t care much for Nicholson or Erbe (can girlfriend run a comb through her hair, she has company). Can they get an interesting woman (like on SUV) and stop hiring greasy looking bimbos!
I heard all this whining when they got rid of Vance and Sheridan. People kept watching and now it’s like people forgot they tossed out two main characters at the same time BEFORE.
That’s Wolf’s way.
Goldblum has finally found a role that suits him and I’m looking forward to Mary Elizabeth Masterantonio doing something interesting with her role.
give it a chance before you complain.
In the beginning nobody cared for Briscoe either!
December 19th, 2009 at 3:26 am
Please keep Erbe, D’Onofrio and Bogosian as the stars of “Law & Order CI”. The show will not be the same without them, and won’t be enjoyable to watch. The highlight of each show is watching Goren use his intellect and deep understanding of human behaviors to solve the crimes, and he needs Eames to complete the job. Please retain these skillful actors in this show. Thank you.
December 20th, 2009 at 1:44 pm
D’Onfrio’s Goren character is the whole point of the show. No VDO, no L&O:CI.
December 21st, 2009 at 1:56 am
Well count me out also. Without D’Onofrio and Erbe there won’t be a Criminal Intent and my interest will be zero. USA has no clue as to how many people they will loose from this stupid decision. Oh well, I can watch reruns on Bravo.
December 21st, 2009 at 5:30 am
it’s so going to be over. I alos think law and order and suv will soon fellow as well.
December 21st, 2009 at 9:45 am
AS A MASSIVE VINCENT D’ONOFRIO FAN,I AM GUTTED THEY’RE GETTING RID OF HIM!! I’VE WATCHED CI SINCE EPISODE 1 AND THE SHOW IS GORENS,AND NOBODY ELSES.HE’S JUST AMAZING TO WATCH AND HIS EXPRESSIONS ARE UNIQUE.WHEN THE SERIES WAS SPLIT BETWEEN GOREN AND LOGAN I MADE SURE I WATCHED GOREN BUT REALLY WASN’T INTERESTED IN SEEING THE LOGAN EPISODES AT ALL. THE SAME WITH NICHOLS,BUT I MUST SAY I WATCHED THE FIRST EPISODE INTRODUCING GOLDBLUM AND I THOUGHT HE WAS NAFF!I REALLY DON’T THINK THE SHOW SUITS HIM AT ALL. PERSONALLY IT’S GOREN AND EAMES OR NOTHING AND IF THEY’RE BOOTED OUT THEN I GUESS IT’S NOTHING FOR ME BECAUSE I WON’T WATCH IT ANYMORE. THE SHOW WILL NOT SURVIVE WITHOUT THEM!!
December 22nd, 2009 at 8:12 pm
If Vincent and Katherine go, so do I!! Just as all the others have said, they are the show. Noth was a travesty, Goldblum is worse. All the L&O’s are in trouble, maybe they should all die out!! CSI’s are the big deal now, I could see VD in the lab..oh yeah!
December 23rd, 2009 at 6:45 pm
like many many people have said: i watch law & order because of d’onofrio and erbe. they make the show. i have not been a big fan of jeff goldblum. i love law & order. but this just isnt a good choice they have made. they will lose alot of devoted fans.
December 25th, 2009 at 12:02 am
Judging from the number of people who say they will jump if D’Onofrio and Erbe leave, if I was USA, I’d give that a big second look. Vincent D’Onofrio is the rare actor who is still riveting playing the same character for this many seasons. Katherine Erbe is a terrific complement to D’Onofrio, and a good actress in her own right. D’Onofrio inhabits the character. He is so believable. Jeff Goldblum, no disrespect, but it feels like he’s just playing at the character. I really hope they will reconsider keeping this pair of fine actors on for as long as they want to stay!
December 27th, 2009 at 6:41 pm
When is Law and Order comming back I miss the show alot and Vincent and Katherine make the show I hope that they stay for if they leave I will not longer watch the show, they made that show work, keep them on.
December 30th, 2009 at 11:10 pm
Those of you who rush to your brash statements must not know much about the behind-the-scenes negotiations that go on to keep a television show on the air. Most shows don’t even last a single season much less 8 full seasons. But regardless, when a show comes up for another run of episodes; the side that has the leverage is the one with the most power at the time. In this case, CI has limped along in its eighth season and is lucky to be going on for a ninth. During the negotiation process it is not uncommon for a network in USA’s position to say “We’ll renew you for another season, BUT…… (insert conditions here), and if not then we’ll cancel you” In fact, CBS did the same heavy handed tactics with Cold Case and Without a Trace over the summer when their production budgets were to be drastically cut, or the shows cancelled. Notice that only Cold Case is on the air now.
So in the position of Dick Wolf, would you rather have your show outright cancelled and many people under you suddenly unemployed? Or do you cave to the networks demands and retool the show?
Truthfully, no amount of retooling will save the show. And, honestly, it should have ended after the seventh season. But regardless, the show will limp along in its ninth season, and be cancelled… but at least the production staff will have some more paychecks to show for it.

I want this show to come back on Nbc. i feel that its not as Darkish and i hate the that this show seems like its trying to reach the “younger audience” after it started going on USA. i still love the show its just that it doesn’t feel right. Also they are more in to the personal things when it comes to the characters on the USA Era. before the USA era they rarely talked about the problems the detectives have usually have. I think knowing a lot more about the characters family and personal lives in a certain way kind of ruins the characters background in a way. Ive only seen seasons 2-7 on netflix I’m still not done and i can tell why there are less viewers. but i still enjoy watching it.

I miss the “Law and Order CI” so much. When will it be shown again? I hope that Goren and Eames would still be there in the next season. I dont think the show would survive without them.

Bummer. Show was going downhill and had hit the shark-jumping point as soon as they cast JG. I loved Vincent in Staten Island, so I’m not worried about his career — or his weight. But I do love Vincent and Kathryn as partners. Great connection and chemistry. She keeps him on task. I liked Jamey Sheridan but like EB almost as well. I think the show has just run its course and everybody who made it great is ready to move on.

Vincent and Katherine ARE Criminal Intent. Period. The show is only half as good as it used to be – I, too, only watch when they are on. If the network can’t work something out so that these two key characters remain on the show, then it’s better to just let go – not try and prop it up like a dead horse. I would not want to be the actor(s) who try and follow in their footsteps.

Well I agree with S. Edward, Dick Wolfe was probably put in a position that he had to choose between a show without D’Onofrio and Erbe or no show at all. And I can’t fault him for going the way he did, if that is the case. I also agree that the earlier seasons were much better written as far as delving into the criminal mind and when the powers that be decided to bring another detective into the fold and split up the episodes, it probably was the beginning of the end and we all should have seen the writing on the wall. I’m coming to the realization that it’s all probably for the best but as far as I am concerned, Goren and Eames will always be at the top of my list for great police partners.

Dick wolf needs to reconsider: jeff. Goldblam is boring and not the right character for loci, I only watch the episode with goren and dames If they go so do I

I am sorry that Goren,Eames and Ross are leaving.I’LL miss them, but as
long as there’s Fan Fiction.Net on the internet there will always be new stories to read. Some I might say are way better then the tv writers, what talent.I even have some stories of my own.
Also,I read that Vincent wanted to leave the show to do other things.I
hope he,ll stay on tv.
January 10th, 2010 at 10:17 pm
Vincent D’onofrio is simply superb. His characterization of a modern day Sherlock Holmes is unmatched in the police drama genre. His partnership w/Eames is perfectly pitched…delighted that partnership never crossed the line of relationship. NO VINCENT…NO ME.
January 11th, 2010 at 7:41 pm
I guess I am another who will not be watching without D’onofrio and Erbe – the “suits” – yet again – are sinking a successful ship. Seems like quality of a production is a signal to mess with it. We could all make lists a mile long of one show/performer after another that should have continued and then we are fed “entertainment” pablum. Bah Humbug!
As for the acting talent of D’Onofrio – he will have my attention no matter what his choice of role in the future – a professional through and through.
As Becky just wrote – NO VINCENT…NO ME.
January 11th, 2010 at 7:44 pm
Vincent D’Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe ARE Law & Order: Criminal Intent! Without them, that show is without ME!
January 12th, 2010 at 8:53 am
The show will tank without Vincent. Jeff Goldbloom is boring and every time I see him I keep remembering when he was in “The Fly.” They should just let the show die. Period.
January 18th, 2010 at 12:01 pm
No D’Onofrio and I’m gone. Erbe has grown on me. Bogosian is unwatchable good riddance.
January 22nd, 2010 at 3:39 pm
Vincent D’onofrio is one of the most underrated actors on TV. Thank God for DVDs. But I’d like to see him stretch his acting chops a bit and use what God gave him! I get the impression that he wanted out a long time ago. TV is a steady paycheck, good exposure (if done right). With some moola in the bank and rabid fans wanting to see him after L&OCI, he’ll be alright. I also love Jeff Goldblum (in other stuff) but USA can kiss L&OCI goodbye. There is NO way, NO WAY, it will continue without D’onofrio. You tune in just to see him. I never watched it with anyone else. Erbe is OK but was never a favorite of mine. Bogosian? YAWN. The original cast was the best. So long Vincent! Good Luck! And I’ll be waiting and watching for your next project.

Vincent D’onofrio has not been looking great the last two season, sad, but it is time for him to leave. I very much enjoyed Jeff Goldblum, hope he will return again. I’ve watched all the law and orders over the last 20 years. Lots of changes, but I will always be a fan of all of them.
January 28th, 2010 at 8:28 am
Vincent D’Onofrio es “Law & Order: Criminal Intent”. Por él, muchos vemos la serie. Si ha de haber otros, lo mejor sería que se cambiara la serie.
Saludos desde México.

The only episodes of CI I watch are the ones with D’onfrio and Erbe. When they go, I’m done with CI. I have a hard time buying that they are being “ditched”, more like they are growing tired of the same old routine.
February 1st, 2010 at 10:43 am
Goldblum will not be able to carry Law and Order CI. I guess I will be watching reruns and will no longer watch the new CI without D’onofrio.
February 7th, 2010 at 8:12 pm
I hope D’onofrio and Erbe will be back more often than not. Everyone is right, it will not be worth watching without them. Miss Jeremy Sheridan too.
February 9th, 2010 at 3:08 pm
I’ve watched this show from the beginning. I guess loyalty doesn’t mean that much anymore.
USA wants “lighter fare”! Then they’ll get it, because NO ONE will watch Law and Order, CI anymore
if Bobby and Eames aren’t on the show as partners. They made it and with them gone – it’ll break.
I could take Goldblum and Noth, if I knew the next week D’Onofrio and Erbe would be on. Whoever made
this decision goofed. It was bad enough when Sheridan left the show, but with this latest announcement,
my DVD player will get the time USA network was getting.

If USA likes things “lighter” they’ll get it. With D’Onofrio and Erbe out, Law & Order CI is done!
My DVD player will get the time USA network was getting, while I watch Criminal Intent re-runs.

Goren(D’Onofrio) & Eames(Erbe) has made Law & Order:Criminal Intent what it is today. If somethings not broke why try to fix it. Goldblum does not keep my attention long enough for me to even watch a full episode with him in it. Once Goren & Eames are off the show there will be no need for me to even watch Criminal Intent.

I have since seen some interviews that VDO has done about this, and it looks like he is itchy to move on. Oh well, I will miss him and wish him the best of luck!
February 20th, 2010 at 10:53 pm
I agree with lori, if goren and eames leaves, than so do i…
February 22nd, 2010 at 11:34 am
I absolutely LOVE this show, but if goren and eames go – I’m out. Who smoked what to come to this stupid decision??!!
February 26th, 2010 at 5:38 am
I don’t understand if the show was working with D’Onofrio and Erbe, why change it. I’ve been a loyal fan but don’t think I’ll continue if these two are gone. I never really liked Bagoosian much but kept watching because of D’Onofrio and Erbe.
February 26th, 2010 at 11:42 am
Vincent D’onofrio gone? Extremely extremely dissappointed, bad mistake by this show. Goren and Eames partnership MADE THIS SHOW! Bad decision! Really bad decision! It won’t last a year after this.
February 28th, 2010 at 5:43 pm
I actually like Jeff Goldblum, and wouldn’t hate it if they wanted to alternate episodes, like they did with Noth, but no more D’Onofrio?
If he’s leaving of his own accord, then I will miss him. If the producers are making this move, they are fools, and should be shot! He is absolutely brilliant…
March 2nd, 2010 at 3:22 am
The only reason why I watch L&O:CI is because of Vincent D’onofrio and Kathryn Erbe. If they’re gone, there will be no L&O:CI. I hate what’s happening to the cast. No offense JG. But I won’t be watching anymore USA.
March 2nd, 2010 at 3:18 pm
With Eames and Goren being written out, this show is finished. Those characters WERE the show. Neither one of these fine actors need CI. The show needs them and their incredible chemistry. I look forward to seeing Vincent and Katherine in future projects. I’ll rely on DVDs of their past episodes and say goodbye to CI. Bobby you’re the best, we’ll miss you.

when vincent leaves the show…..so will I……….I only watch it for his character………Couldnt stand it with Chris noth..and do not like jeff goldblum………sorry………..need goren and eames!
March 6th, 2010 at 12:47 pm
CI, with the original characters of Gorhan and Eames is the reason I always slotted time to view the show. Goldblum is okay but he’s not D’Onfrio. And the chemistry between D’Onfrio and Erbe is wonderful. It’s rare in tv. I hope they come to their senses and keep the show as it always was. And Bogosian is good too but it seems like he was never given the chance to get his “acting and character chops” firmly under him. Too many changes for the guy. So….let’s keep Goran and Eames and Bogosian, and let’s all come to our senses! Jeez, it ain’t rocket surgery! If it ain’t broke, don’t touch it. Let’s not kill the golden geese!
March 7th, 2010 at 8:08 pm
I won’t be watching the show with Eames and Goren leaving. They were the show. Sorry you made such a stupid decision. Sounds like the shows problems arent the actors, but the network making poor decisions. At least we will have the re-runs to watch.
March 7th, 2010 at 8:21 pm
With Eames and Goren gone I wont be watching the show anymore, except for the re-runs. I dont think it is the actors that can’t get it right, it sounds like the management can’t get it right. I am sure after one season with them gone so will be the show. They were the show. Jeff Goldman just doesn’t fit the part. All I can say is BAD BAD decision.
March 10th, 2010 at 8:58 am
Jeff Goldbloom is not funny, interesting, or compelling in this part or any other. D’Onofrio is funny, interesting, and compelling in this part and every other one I have seen him in. He might not meet the networks definition of eye-candy but I’d rather sit and talk to him other than any of the other guys the network thinks is. The networks must think that the audience has two working brain cells and drools so they will watch any crap that is put in front of them. Well, I guess if that is their definition of the audience they are looking for, I won’t be watching!
March 15th, 2010 at 6:10 am
When Gorham and Eames leave the show I will no longer watch and I know I am not alone.Very stupid idea.
