How sad is all this?First off God Bless Mackenzie for getting to the root of the driving force behind her drug addiction,which is a disease.In her case passed on by generation to generation.Then you add the unstability ,uncertainty,craving love and approval into the mix,hence produces self distructive behavoir.In my opinion she was not ready to face that dragon head on with her father while he was alive,that would have been to painful,his death was the begining of her freedom,healing,and hardest of all admittence to her roll that she owns in all of this.Which would explain her downward spiral of drug use after his death.It seems she spent her life so desperatly wanting love and approval that she never received from her dad that in her drug fuled mind participaiting in his behavior as sick as it may have been was love to her.Unless you walk in her shoes we will never fully understand it.However I believe she is telling the truth you see it in her eyes and her face.Her living in denial step mom is playing the cover up game because then she would have to look at her self and the roll she played in this tangled web.I dont believe she is jealous of her sibling either,nor their success,I belive she loves and holds them dear to her heart.Thank God (irony) Chyinna Michelles daughter went to bat for her.Support is very important for healing.What we really have here is classic textbook exsposed family that wants to keep the dirt under the rug.Her courage to exspose her life is commendable,this is her story though it may effect other lives she has the right to tell it.And for the Oprah bashing club!Get a clew!!!!!!its Oprah!!She dont need any help to get ratings!!Allowing people to tell their life story and share with the world so others can be helped is what she does….which by the way is AWESOME!!!If one person watching that day was helped and lived a parallel life (and they are out there)God smiled!!!!!!Kudos to Mack, Oprah,and the people who support them!!!

Why OH Why.
Life is tough enough without a father making it even tougher & to blur the line between love and lust is just ludicrous! Who am I to judge when I don’t have the same scenarios happen to me? Who are we to judge when life is good all around? Have we learnt not to empathise? All but 1 word stands between us and Laura / “Mack” and that is honesty. This book describes in virginistic honesty the life that was seen through her eye’s. I take my hat, hy heart , my soul and give it to you Mack. You are without a doubt a true Soldier. Keep doing the same:- Speak up for what you beleive in because it WILL make a change!

I am a child survivor of incest myself – no way did I allow my father to touch me once I could fight back. I don’t believe this. My father was a violent SOB but I fought back and I don’t believe a grown woman would allow this to happen. I know how this feels, the shame, the embarrassment, the total despair. I love my father but the sight of him still makes me physically ill 40 years after the fact. If she can participate in this act as a consenting adult she is every bit as ill as her father, actually more so.

Wow a lot of idiots on here. First of all none of you know what your talking about, not saying that i do either. But dont judge someone you dont even know and are definitly never going to know by calling them a liar when you really dont know the facts. No one will ever know the facts on this except mack. But if i was going to listen to a thrid party it’s not going to be any of you people who dont have any idea if this happened to her or not it would probably be her sister who went agianst the rest of her family to stand up for what she believes is true. Of course Michelle would like to hide this and stay in denial this could ruin her and her family members reputation completly & in my opinon this did happen and Michelle believes it just as much as a lot of people i do understand Michelle’s worry but she needs to suck up her ego forget about her pretty much already ruined career and stop making mack look like an mental person who dosnt even know what happened to herself. I myself have abused a lot of drugs and yes they do mess up your memory and a lot of things but trust me dosnt matter how fucked up you ever get your going to remember that you and your father had a sexual relationship. She is not blaming her father or calling him a bad person everyone who reads this book should understand that she was just as much a part of this as he was. One thing that is definite bull shit is when she is saying that Mack is jelous of her siblings beacuse they did something with their lives and she just became a drug addict yes in her books it does say that Jeffery, Tam, and Bijou all had drug abuse problems

As a woman I certainly would hope that she is not lying about being raped and yes I have a friend that was raped by her stepfather and it took 4 years for her mom to leave him. The sad truth is women are big deniers from weight gain to men to a lot of things. Correction: SOME not ALL!!

Mackenzie says she’s admitting the sex with her dad to help others in same situations. Who are those others? First of all, she was molested/raped the FIRST time by her dad (she at the time being in a drug-induced state so that she wasn’t even aware of it happening).

But then it continued to happen and it was “consensual” to use her own words. Is that molestation? Is that abuse? Yes, if you’re under a certain age. But at 20 years old and you’re no virgin, as she admits herself, and your father initiates sex with you the first time and you then decide to continue having sex with him? There was no force involved, as she said. It was her and only her choice to engage in the consensual sex. She’s not an incest survivor. She’s not a little girl or boy who was forced to have sex with a parent. She was an adult, an adult who was having sex with other men as well at the same time as she was agreeing to have sex with her dad. So she was betraying her husband too at the same time by cheating on him with her dad.

What good did she do with the revelation, even if it is true? Well, what she did succeed in doing is making $$$. If there were no $$$ to be gained, she would never have mentioned it.

And if it isn’t true (which no one will ever really know except the two of them) then she’s really sick.
